The sun was rising over the Fire Nation, casting a golden glow over the sprawling palace grounds. Korra and Mako stood in the training courtyard, their eyes fixed on the imposing figure before them. Lord Zuko, still carrying an air of strength and wisdom, observed them with a discerning gaze.
"Before we begin, I want you both to understand that firebending is not just about power," Zuko said, his voice calm yet firm. "It's about control, precision, and harmony with the elements."
Korra nodded, determination shining in her eyes. "I'm ready, Lord Zuko."
Mako stood beside her, his stance solid. "Me too."
Zuko smiled faintly, a nostalgic glint in his eyes. "Good. Let's start with the basics. Show me your stance."
Korra and Mako shifted into their firebending stances, feet grounded firmly, hands poised to strike. Zuko circled them, his critical eye catching every minor detail.
"Your stance is strong, Korra, but you need to relax your shoulders," Zuko said, gently tapping her shoulder. "Tension here will disrupt your flow."
Korra adjusted, feeling the difference almost immediately. "Thank you."
Zuko turned to Mako. "Your form is nearly perfect, but your left foot is slightly off. Align it with your right to maintain balance."
Mako made the correction, his muscles responding fluidly. "Got it."
"Now, we move on to basic firebending techniques," Zuko continued. "Mako, start with a standard fire blast."
Mako stepped forward, channeling his breath and focusing his energy. A controlled jet of fire burst from his fist, cutting through the morning air.
"Excellent," Zuko remarked. "Now, Korra, your turn."
Korra mirrored Mako's movements, releasing a fierce stream of fire. The heat radiated through the courtyard, reflecting her inner strength.
"Very good," Zuko said. "But remember, fire is alive. It breathes with you. Let it be an extension of your will, not just a tool."
They spent the next hour refining their techniques, Zuko demonstrating advanced maneuvers and subtle corrections. His movements were a blend of power and grace, a testament to decades of mastery. Lei peered down at the training grounds, observing her friends learn from one of the greatest benders of the millennia. Juyin joined by her side, bowing for formalities.
"Chang's information checked out, I thought you should know," Juyin started. "It was true when he said that they were targeting outlying towns at the edge of the border but they're slowly making their way in. They could be scattered for all we know but there are a few towns that still remain intact that they could potentially strike next,"
Lei turned to Juyin, her brow furrowed slightly. "Chang's intel is reliable, but it doesn't make this any less dangerous," she said, her tone measured.
Juyin nodded, his arms crossed as he leaned against the railing. "True, but if we wait too long, we risk losing our opportunity. Timing is everything."
Below them, the sounds of firebending practice carried on, with bursts of flame lighting up the courtyard. Lei's gaze drifted back to her friends, her expression softening momentarily. "Lord Zuko's teaching them well. They'll be ready if things go sideways."
"They'd better be," Juyin replied, his voice low. "Because if Chang's right, the Azure is more than just a rumor. They're real, and they're planning something big."
Lei stiffened at the mention of the Azure, a shadow passing over her face. "A rogue faction of firebenders bent on restoring the old ways... If they gain more power, it'll undo everything Lord Zuko and the others fought for."
