*I am sorry for disappearing :( I promise I haven't abandoned y'all! Just a lot of work in uni and my internship. But I'll try posting more.

Time passes in the blink of an eye. Before you know it, your daughter is a year old. These months have been some of the best of your life, just as they have been since you met your wife.

Today, you slowly wake up, your eyes fluttering open as the early morning sunlight filters gently through the window. Narcissa is still sleeping soundly beside you, her soft breaths a soothing rhythm in the quiet room.

You realize, with a start, that today is Carina's first birthday. It feels like just yesterday she was a tiny, fragile bundle in your arms, and yet, here she is, already a year old. You turn to your wife and gently nudge her awake.

"Cissa," you whisper, your heart swelling with anticipation. "Wake up, my love. Today is Rina's birthday."

Her eyes open slowly, still groggy with sleep, but a soft smile spreads across her face as she realizes what you've just said.

"Is it really?" she asks, her voice still thick with slumber.

Suddenly, you hear a soft, delightful gurgle coming from your daughter's room, making you and your wife exchange a knowing smile.

"Sounds like someone's awake and ready for her birthday celebrations," you say softly.

Narcissa nods, already pushing back the covers and sitting up.

"Let's go get our little one," she replies, a hint of eagerness in her voice.

Before she can fully get up, you gently put a hand on her arm, holding her back.

"Wait," you say softly, a thought occurring to you.

She turns to you, curious, a slight frown on her face.

"What is it, darling?" she asks, her eyes searching yours.

You slide an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to you. Your other hand comes up to brush a stray strand of hair out of her face. You look into her eyes, sparkling with affection for her.

"I just wanted to say," you murmur, your voice soft and tender, "I love you. So much. And I'm so grateful for you and Carina. She's a beautiful little girl, just like her mum."

You lean in and press a soft, gentle kiss to her lips. The older woman's expression softens even further. She leans into your embrace, her hand coming up to cup your face, her thumb tracing the line of your cheek.

"And I love you too," she whispers, her eyes crinkling at the corners as she smiles warmly. Her gaze flicks towards the door to Carina's room, where the baby's soft noises still come from. "Speaking of... we should go attend to our birthday girl."

You and her stand up together, moving towards the door to your daughter's room. Narcissa opens the door slowly, and the sight that greets you both is nothing short of adorable.

Carina is sitting up in her crib, her [your hair color] hair tousled from sleep, her tiny fists grasping at the air as she coos and babbles to herself. You and your wife step into the room, approaching the crib where Rina is sitting. As you draw closer, the baby's gaze turns towards you, and her face breaks into a wide, gummy smile.

"Good morning, baby," you both say softly.

Your daughter babbles and makes soft sounds, seemingly trying to respond to you. Her little fists wave in the air, reaching towards you both, her eyes sparkling with glee. Then, her eyebrows suddenly furrow in concentration.

"Ma-ma," she says, her voice high and soft.

You and Narcissa freeze, your eyes widening in surprise. It takes a moment for you to fully register what just happened.

"Did she just... say mama?" your wife whispers, her voice tinged with awe.

You quickly reach into the crib, carefully lifting your daughter into your arms. She feels warm and soft against your chest, her little limbs flailing as she looks up at you with wide, curious eyes. You can't help but laugh softly, your heart overflowing with emotions.

"Yes she did," you say, unable to keep the awe from your voice.

You press a kiss to her chubby cheek, feeling her soft skin under your lips. She giggles and pats at your face, her tiny fingers grasping at your chin. Meanwhile, you notice Narcissa standing beside you, a hint of insecurity in her expression. She leans in to give Carina a kiss on the forehead, her hand tracing your daughter's soft hair gently.

"Looks like someone was calling for you," she says quietly, her gaze fixed on the baby in your arms.

You turn your head to look at her, your expression soft and loving. You can sense the hint of insecurity in her voice, and it breaks your heart a little.

"Cissy," you say softly, your voice gentle, "we both know who 'Mama' is."

You shift Carina in your arms, cradling her close as she coos and squirms, completely oblivious to the conversation.

"We've been referring to you as 'Mama' since she was still in my belly," you continue, your tone reassuring.

You adjust Carina in your arms so she's facing you, her little eyes looking up at you with innocent wonder. You point towards Narcissa and ask, your voice gentle, "Rina, who is this?"

The girl's gaze follows your finger, shifting to look at your wife. She stares at her for a moment, tilting her head slightly to the side as if contemplating.

"Ma-ma," she says softly, her eyes firmly fixed on Narcissa.

The look of insecurity on the older woman's face transforms into one of awe and disbelief. Her eyes widen, her mouth forming a small 'o' as she stares back at your daughter.

"She..." she whispers, her voice thick with emotion. "She really called me mama."

A slow smile spreads across her face, her expression radiating with love and happiness. You smile widely, your heart warming at the sight. You hand Carina over to her, watching as she carefully cradles the baby in her arms.

"Told you," you tease gently, still smiling. "She knows exactly who mama is."

As you notice tears forming in Narcissa's eyes, your smile softens into something more tender. You lean in, pecking her lips gently before pressing another kiss to the top of Carina's head.

"She's a mama's girl through and through," you say softly, your voice filled with affection. "No need for you to ever doubt that."

Narcissa looks at you, her eyes brimming with tears.

"I'll never be able to thank you enough for giving me her," she whispers, her voice choked with emotion.

She cradles Carina gently in one arm, her free hand reaching out to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear.

"I love you both so much," she says, her gaze locking with yours. "More than words can ever express."

You smile at her lovingly, your heart swelling with affection.

"I love you both too," you reply, your voice filled with tenderness.

You place a hand on her shoulder, gently steering her towards the door.

"Come on," you say, the excitement of the day starting to settle in. "Let's go celebrate our little girl's first birthday. I'll make us some breakfast."
