"For my next scoop, I'll be taking you to meet the girl who's been hiding behind the Ladybug mask, and then, I'll get Annalise Von Nacht to admit to her manipulation and deceit. So be prepared, Annalise," Lady Wifi declared, holding up her phone. With a swipe of her hand, a pink stop icon shot towards Mr. Damocles, freezing him in place.
"Stay connected!" Lady Wifi added before the projection cut off. Annalise sat frozen in her seat, her mind racing with fear. It was the first time she had been directly targeted by an akumatized villain, and the sheer malice in Lady Wifi's words sent a shiver down her spine.
"Everyone, for your own safety, go directly home right now! And don't forget to read chapters four and five!" Ms. Bustier instructed, her voice firm but calm. The students quickly packed their bags and hurried out of the classroom. Annalise's hands trembled as she fumbled with her things, her panic rising with each passing second.
She was snapped out of her spiraling thoughts when she felt both Nathaniel and Adrien gently take her hands.
"It's okay, Annalise. The heroes will handle it. Besides, we and your brothers are here for you," Adrien said, his voice soothing. He smiled reassuringly, his thumb softly circling her hand.
"Yeah. We'll protect you in any way we can. Why don't you stay at my house while you wait for your brothers?" Nathaniel suggested. He knew his parents would welcome her without hesitation. Adrien wanted to offer the same but knew his father wouldn't approve, and he couldn't be with her due to his secret life as one of Paris's heroes.
"O-okay. I'm sorry for freezing up. It's just the first time an akumatized villain has targeted me with such bad intentions," Annalise admitted, her voice shaky as she clung to their hands. They led her out of the classroom, Adrien carrying her bag in his free hand.
"It's okay. It's natural to feel scared," Adrien reassured her. As they walked, he became increasingly aware that he needed to leave and transform, but he was torn, not wanting to abandon Annalise in her frightened state.
Sensing his dilemma, Annalise momentarily pushed her fear aside. She had a hunch, a feeling she couldn't ignore. She let go of Adrien's hand, surprising him, and gave him a knowing smile that was both comforting and understanding.
"Go, Adrien. We'll be fine," she said softly, her eyes filled with trust and encouragement.
Adrien's heart swelled with gratitude and admiration for her bravery however his mind is still confused and nervous if she found out. "Be safe," he whispered before dashing off to find a place to transform.
Annalise and Nathaniel continued out of the school, the chaos of the situation still weighing heavily on them, but the comfort of having each other made it a little more bearable. Nathaniel glanced at Annalise, his protective instincts flaring. He admired her resilience and felt his crush on her deepen with each moment they spent together.
