The car jolted violently, tilting dangerously on one side. Annalise squeaked in alarm as she was abruptly pressed against Homura. Her eyes widened with concern, and she instinctively tried to wriggle out of his hold.
“Senpai, what’s happening?” she asked, her voice tinged with anxiety.
Homura, still holding her close, tried to peer through the windows, but the angle made it difficult. “I’m not sure,” he admitted. “But it seems like the car is stuck in this position. We need to get out of here.”
Annalise glanced around, her gaze landing on the side of the car that wasn’t on the ground. “We can’t get out from this side,” she observed. “But if we climb over to the other side, we might be able to get out.”
Homura nodded, though he was apprehensive. “Alright, you go first. I’ll help you.”
As Annalise started to maneuver herself, Homura’s hands were involuntarily placed on her hips to steady her. The fabric of her skirt brushed against his hands, and his face flushed crimson. He quickly averted his gaze, trying to focus on the task at hand rather than the unintended contact.
“Be careful,” Homura said, his voice strained as he tried to maintain his composure. “I’ll help you up, but try to get to a safe distance once you’re out.”
Annalise nodded, her face set with determination. “Got it. Thanks, Senpai.”
Homura took a deep breath and helped Annalise climb upwards, his hands firmly but respectfully gripping her waist. He averted his gaze, focusing on the task rather than the proximity. Once she was safely out, he got out himself before he prepared himself to turn the car back to its original position.
Homura assessed the situation of the car. The car was precariously positioned, resting at an awkward angle. He needed a plan that would use his strength efficiently without causing additional damage to his car.
Drawing on his training, he positioned himself against the side of the car. His muscles tensed as he sought a stable footing. He remembered the principles of balance and leverage from his martial arts training. To shift the vehicle, he would need to apply force carefully and steadily.
Homura placed his feet firmly on the ground, pressing his back against the car’s frame. He started pushing with all his strength, using his body weight to leverage the car’s tilt. Sweat began to bead on his forehead as he focused on the precise angles needed to move the vehicle.
The car groaned and shifted slowly. Annalise watched from a safe distance, her eyes wide with worry and admiration. She muttered words of encouragement, her concern evident but her eyes locked on Homura. Her presence was a source of strength for him, adding to his resolve.
