The following day, the weight of Marcus's words lingered heavily on my mind. The doubts he had sown were like a shadow, casting a pall over my thoughts. Despite my trust in Damien , the fear that there were things he was hiding from me gnawed at my resolve.

I spent the day at school avoiding everyone, including Damien . The turmoil inside me was too overwhelming to face him just yet. Every time I saw him, my heart ached with both love and uncertainty.

After classes ended, I decided to confront Damien . I couldn't let these doubts fester any longer. I needed to know the truth, no matter how painful it might be. I sent him a message, asking him to meet me at the clearing where we often found solace.

The walk to the clearing was filled with trepidation. The familiar path felt different this time, laden with the weight of the conversation to come. When I arrived, Damien was already there, his expression serious and concerned.

"Xavier," he said, stepping forward. "What's going on? You've been avoiding me all day."

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "We need to talk, Damien . About Marcus and what he said."

His eyes darkened, a flash of anger and worry crossing his face. "What did Marcus say to you?"

"He told me there are things you're not telling me," I replied, my voice trembling. "Secrets about your past. Things that could change everything."

Damien's expression hardened. "He's trying to manipulate you, Xavier. Don't listen to him."

"But what if he's right?" I demanded, the fear and frustration bubbling over. "What if there are things you're keeping from me?"

There was a long silence, the tension between us thick. Finally, Damien sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly. "There are things I haven't told you. Not because I don't trust you, but because I didn't want to burden you with my past."

I felt a pang of pain at his words. "I want to know, Damien . I need to know everything."

He took a deep breath, his gaze locking onto mine. "Alright. I'll tell you."

We sat down by the edge of the clearing, the moonlight casting a silvery glow over the trees. Damien's voice was low and filled with emotion as he began to speak.

"When I was younger, before I met you, I was involved with a group that was... dangerous. They were powerful, and they had their own agenda. Marcus was part of that group. We did things that I'm not proud of, things that haunt me to this day."

My heart ached for him, but I forced myself to listen, to understand. "What kind of things?"

"Fighting, manipulating other packs, causing chaos," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I got out as soon as I realized what they were really about. But Marcus has always held a grudge against me for leaving."

I reached out, taking his hand in mine. "Why didn't you tell me this before?"

"I didn't want to drag you into my past," he replied, his eyes filled with pain. "I wanted to protect you from it."

Tears welled up in my eyes. "Damien , I'm your mate. We're supposed to face everything together, good or bad. You should have trusted me."

"I know," he said, his voice breaking. "I'm so sorry, Xavier. I didn't mean to hurt you."

I pulled him into a tight embrace, the bond between us thrumming with a mixture of pain and relief. "We'll figure this out together. But no more secrets, okay?"

"Okay," he whispered, holding me close. "No more secrets."

That evening, as I lay in bed, my mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. The truth about Damien's past was a lot to process, but I was determined to stand by him. Our bond was unbreakable, and together, we could face whatever came our way.

Just as I was drifting off to sleep, my phone buzzed with a message from Damian.

Damien : I love you, Xavier. We'll get through this.

I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. Xavier: I love you too, Damien. Always.
