Damien's POV

In the midst of all this chaos, I found myself drawn to Marcus more and more. The memory of his moan, the way he touched himself in his sleep, haunted my thoughts. Every time I closed my eyes, I vividly recalled the scene by the lake—the way he writhed on the grass, his body glistening in the sunlight. I heard his moans echoing in my mind, both Marcus and Xavier's voices merging in my dreams, moaning my name together. It was impossible to ignore.

One night, I was woken up by one of my guards. This time, it was around four in the morning. He didn't even wait for me to tell him to come in; he just burst into my room, panting. "Alpha, we think we've found the mole," he said, breathless. "We caught someone suspicious near the border."

I jumped out of bed, my heart racing. "Who is it?" I demanded.

"It's one of our own members. A rogue your father took in forty years ago. He's confessed, Alpha."

I ran with the guard to the common house and down into the basement, where we had cells for disobedient pack members. For outsiders or prisoners, we had a more secure facility. Although this man was a traitor, he had been part of our pack for over forty years, so we showed him this small measure of respect.

When I entered the room, I saw him sitting there—a man in his mid-50s, looking fragile and exhausted. I continued the interrogation, my voice cold and stern, picking up where the guards had left off. "Why did you betray us?" I asked. "Why would you do this after we took you in?"

The old man's voice trembled as he began to speak. "Long ago, when I was around three years old, my parents died. My pack was small and didn't have the resources to take care of me, so they gave me away. I was put in an orphanage for werewolves. At some point, a group came and took me in. They said they would keep me safe as long as I followed their rules. They trained me, taught me to keep secrets, to spy, to fight. They told me that one day, I would owe them a debt. When your father found me and accepted me into the pack, I thought I had escaped them. But a few months ago, they reached out to me. They knew where I was, what I had become. They demanded information about our patrols, our defenses. I had no choice but to comply. After the attack, I was too scared to come forward."

I listened to his story, my anger simmering. "Keep him locked up," I ordered the guards. "I want four guards on him at all times."

As I walked back to my room, I felt the weight of the world pressing down on my shoulders. These rogues were more dangerous and organized than I had imagined. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep, so I sat at the kitchen table, thinking. The more I thought, the more anxious I became. I opened the cupboard next to the fridge, took out a bottle of strong liquor, and started to drink. What was supposed to be only a couple of sips ended up being three-quarters of the bottle.

Suddenly, I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I whipped my head around, and to my surprise, Marcus was standing there. He was in his boxers and a tight shirt that clung to his abs and muscles. In my drunken state, I shamelessly let my eyes travel over his body, taking in every detail.

Marcus slowly walked towards me, turning on a second light. He looked astonished, glancing between me and the almost empty bottle in my hand. "Did you drink all of that by yourself?" he asked.

Unable to speak, I nodded. Marcus walked closer, which snapped me out of my trance. I tried to stand, but I was too drunk to move properly and ended up wobbling in my chair. Seeing my struggle, Marcus quickly moved to steady me, his hands on my shoulders. The touch sent my heart racing.

"Damien, you need to get to bed," he said, concern etched on his face.

As he turned to go get a bucket, I grabbed his wrist. "Don't go," I whispered, my voice raw.

Marcus turned back, his eyes searching mine. I saw confusion, but also something else—longing. Summoning the courage that only alcohol could provide, I licked my lips and softly said, "Marcus..."

He gulped, his Adam's apple bobbing. The sight made my desire surge. "Do you feel it too?" I asked, my voice trembling.

Marcus nodded, stepping closer. "I've felt it for a while now, but I couldn't understand it. I wondered if you felt the same."

"I do," I breathed, pulling him closer by the waistband of his boxers. "I don't know what this is, but there's something between us."

Our faces were inches apart, our breaths mingling. Marcus whispered, "Damien..."

Hearing my name from his lips made me shiver. I couldn't hold back any longer. I kissed him. Marcus hesitated for a second, then kissed me back. Our kiss was rough, filled with pent-up desire. I pulled him closer, feeling his body against mine. When I slipped my tongue into his mouth, he moaned.

His hands found their way to my hair, tugging gently. I started kissing down his neck, licking and nibbling until I found his sweet spot. He growled, grinding his hips against me. The friction made us both gasp and pull apart.

Marcus stepped back, panting heavily. "We can't do this now," he said, though his eyes betrayed his desire. "You need to sleep off the alcohol."

I knew he was right, but I was reluctant to let him go. "Help me to my room?" I asked.

He nodded and supported me as I stumbled to my door. With a seductive wink, he bid me goodnight. I barely made it to my bed before I fell asleep.

The next morning, I woke up with a pounding headache and a haze over my memory. I groaned, struggling to recall the details of the night before. My head felt like it was stuffed with cotton, and the fragmented memories of Marcus and me in the kitchen made no sense. What had happened?

As I dressed and made my way downstairs, I found Marcus in the kitchen, making breakfast. He glanced up, his expression unreadable.

"Morning," I mumbled, grabbing a glass of water.

"Morning," he replied, his tone neutral.

I wanted to talk about what had happened, but I didn't know where to start. The tension between us was palpable. We needed to address it, but now wasn't the time. We had more pressing matters to deal with.

As the days passed, the tension between Marcus and me only grew. We avoided talking about the kiss, but it was always there, lingering between us. My thoughts were a jumbled mess, and I found it increasingly difficult to focus on my duties.

One night, unable to sleep, I went for a walk around the pack's territory. I found myself at the lake again, the place where so much had started. The moonlight cast a silvery glow over the water, and the quietness of the night was a stark contrast to the turmoil inside me.

Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind me. I turned to see Marcus approaching, his expression thoughtful. "Can't sleep?" he asked.

I shook my head. "Too much on my mind."

"Same here," he said, sitting down beside me. "Damien, we need to talk about what happened."

"I know," I admitted. "But I don't even know where to start. I can't even fully remember what happened "
