=)

Hey...me?

Nope.

That makes me sound crazy.

I mean I kind of am considering everything... but we'll get to that but right now...

Let's start this again.

Hey...you? Yeah... that sounds better.

If I'm going with the whole idea of you being a separate entity... which kind of sounds equally if not more crazy now I think about it...then maybe I should consider the fact you need filling in.

Let's say you know up to when Frisk fell, because... well... anything onwards is enough to lead up to why I'm talking to you in the first place. And anything before that is... a touchy subject... so we're not going there.

Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeets quickly recap. Frisk falls down into the underground. I try to take their soul. Toriel saves them. Frisk acts all nice and goody goody. Blah blah blah... yadda yadda yadda... then I came back into play. I become an amaz- grotesque being that killed Frisk over and...over and over and over and over and over and over and-

You get the idea.

How did I do it? Resetting abilities that I frankly can't be bothered to explain yet.

But the main thing is somehow Frisk managed to beat me... but I wasn't done yet.

Around this time they made a connection between me and... A-As... As... At this point i audibly sigh.

A... a monster I used to... be... but I'm too lazy... to explain it... yeah... that's it... yeah...

At this point I still was pretending that... that Frisk was someone I used to know... I used to love...lying to myself but I can't be bothered to explain much of that either.

For a moment, using the power of all the souls in the Underground... I became that monster again...fighting  Frisk but pretending they were... that someone knew. Frisk eventually won. And I used the power of all the souls in the Underground to set them free, and I reverted back into this shell...

Notice how i said them? Them... not me... not us? (I don't know how you would be hypothetically related to me... you are a figment of my imagination so let's not think too much into it)

Aaaaaaanyways everyone decided to not let me just go free. Which is justified.. but they also decided to let me live. I do find myself wondering a lot if they were just giving mercy for that monster I was... That I'm not...That I can't... don't get to be anymore.

So the solution was to trap me in the Underground by putting some sort of magic locked door where the barrier was.

While they live their happy perfect little lives... achieve and follow their dreams. I'm down here alone.

I guess you're putting two and two together now huh? I created you to... keep my company... I guess

Because of their "mercy" this is where I've been for 4 years 102 days. How have I kept track you ask?

Well each day I've scratched a line into a tally on the ruins wall, it blends in well with the existing inscriptions. I use my sharpest thorn to painstakingly carve away at the rock, for each day I've been down here. Every day the tally is a reminder of the time I've lost to this place...

(Flowey rambles on and you are slightly disturbed)

(This continues for a while)

(Why is this so elaborate?)

Nah! I'm just pulling ya leg. Ha... I just own a calendar...I mean duh!

Oh come on stop looking so freaked out! I have no soul so I have a dark humour, get used to it.

It's an inspirational quote calendar if you were wondering. Frisk got it for me, thought it'd help me. They asked me about it a while back actually, it was in the first year of them being on the surface and me being well... here...they texted:

Frisk: Oh yeah are you still using that calendar?

Flowey: yeah I love it, it's great!

Frisk: really? Well... I'm happy you like it :)

Flowey: yeah every month I write an essay tearing apart each quote, sometimes I write like 20 pages... it's great

Frisk: WAIT! What?! that's not why I gave it to you at all!

Flowey: Yeah I know but this is a waaaay more fun way to use it, it's the highlight of each month honestly, it passes the time which I have a lot of so thanks for getting it for me =)

Frisk: Flowey i don't... even... well if that...makes you happy

At that point I could just imagine them putting their head in their hands.

Flowey: yeah it does

Frisk: Sans is laughing so hard right now XD

I remember being pretty shocked by his mention...Sans hadn't visited me once at that point, mind you I'd been down there for nearly a year, and I hadn't heard from him at all. I decided to keep quiet about this.

Flowey: you're gonna have to get me one every year, you know... I can send the essays if you want to read them.

I remember being kind of excited for Frisk to see them.
I'm pretty proud of them.

Frisk: i don't know if... yeah ok if you want to

Now, Frisk has got me an inspirational calendar every year, so at least that's something to look forward to down here.

So your next question is why have I not broken out by now? I mean it's been 4 years! (...102 days... 6 hours... 50 minutes...)

Well I imagine you'd asked that anyway, and considering you were created in my head then I can decide that's what we're going with.

A/N: hey! I'm really enjoying writing Flowey so far, he's a really interesting character (my favourite in the game) and it's cool imagining what his thought process would be, hence why I decided to go first person for this. I'm also inspired a lot by "A name to remember" (credits going to ANinnyMouse42) which I highly recommend, along with all of their other stuff. Anyways hope you're enjoying so far and I would really love to hear your thoughts in the comments, and I would appreciate votes to help me get this out there.

Edit (23/7/24): for any new readers I've put in a lot of references (e.g quotes from the game, or references to general Undertale content that I've inserted into my story) which are all in the chapter labelled 'references'!
