"hey bud."

I jump back in surprise, as I see Sans suddenly standing in front of me. I wave a slightly shaking vine and take a few deep breaths.

"Hey... Smiley Trashbag," I don't bother masking the annoyance in my voice and sigh "...you could use the door..." I pause. "...ya know like a normal person,"

"eh," he shrugs, "i'm too lazy for that,"

Yeah... by all means just teleport and scare the poor flower because it's easier.

...That's definitely fine.

"Wow you lazy? ...who woulda thought?" I say in mock surprise.

Sans just smirks, it's weird... he's been visiting long enough that I've began to actually tell the difference between his permanent grin and his smirk.

"so uh i brought-"

"SANS CAN I COME IN YET?"

I recognise the voice immediately and I give Sans a surprised look.

"just a quick sec pap uh...could you fetch us all something to eat while you wait?"

"SURE!" The voice shouts before fading.

"...that'll keep him busy," Sans mutters to himself before turning to me.

I sit there in shock before speaking up.

"You actually...trust me?"

"...yeah bud...I do... but don't make me regret this alright?"

"You won't." I say firmly.

"so uh...i know it's hard...but try to act nicer than usual...ok?"

"Well yeah...that's a given,"

Sans nods taking a deep breath.

"Relax, I'm not like that anymore," I try to reassure him but I know, up until like a year ago, I haven't given him much reason to trust what I say.

"HOW ABOUT NOW?!"

I turn to look at the door.

"uh yeah...come in," Sans says in the doors general direction.

I also look at the door, making the effort to form a friendly smile but suddenly it falters in surprise when Papyrus pulls me into a hug.

"Wait...What are you-"

"it's called a hug flowey i know it's a foreign conce-" Sans begins before I cut in.

"Oh gee thanks... I had no idea-" my voice drips in sarcasm, mirroring his.

"I MISSED YOU!"

"Ugh yeah me too buddy," I awkwardly pat Papyrus' back with one of my vines.

That was honestly the truth. When I was in a bad place with my resets, I never really got bored of him. While everyone else became empty lines of dialogue he remained... alive. Sometimes between my more destructive resets I made spaghetti with him or went with him to recalibrate puzzles, it was honestly kind of fun.
