Hey! Welcome to the references page! In this book I've added in a lot of references and inspirations and as of first releasing this I've written up to chapter 9 (but if you're reading this in the future then don't worry this is up to date).

Here you will find a comprehensive list of all the references (and also some trivia) that I have put into this book so before I continue there will be spoilers ahead, and also you may want to give a go at figuring them out yourself but if not then scroll down...

Okay... don't say I didn't warn you! =)

Ch1

R1) The smiley face at the start and end of each chapter is a reference to the genocide route encounters [that turn from ! to =) ]

R2) "Amaz-grotesque" Flowey is nearly calling Omega Flowey amazing , but changes his mind lol

R3) As mentioned in the author notes this whole first person perspective is influenced a lot by Gastor's in "A name to remember" which again I highly recommend.

Ch2

R4) When it says "Their. Happy. Ending." It's a reference to Floweys neutral route telling you to try something else.

R5) "Above consequences" is a reference to Chara's dialogue, from the genocide route, when you are in the Abyss

R6) "Resetting doesn't fix everything", Sans in the "better times trilogy", a book on here that I can't recommend enough.

R7) The "lines of dialogue" phrase is a reference to Floweys speech, where the fourth wall basically collapsed where he says "sets of numbers lines of dialogue"

R8) I added in the echo flowers from the main game...there isn't really much to say about that it's pretty self explanatory

Ch3

R9) So remember Frisks grades?...some of them were actually sort of intentional, and I think their reasons kind of count as references:

Maths: A
Science: A-
Well in theory, either Sans (who we know is pretty smart due to the blue prints in his house, plus I liked the depictions of him being smart in the better times serious) or Alphys would've probably been roped into homework helped.

English: C-

Well they pretty much don't speak at all during the game so I thought this being their lowest grade would pretty funny.

Sport Ed: A+

I mean they literally fought loads of monsters (or even just dodging if we're thinking Pacifist route) including a literal flower god, and I'm pretty sure it took some skill alongside determination to pull that off. So this just made sense.

R10) Toriel liking snails. Side fact: I just read this post (I've been brushing up on Undertale lore to insert this stuff into the book) and it said Toriel like snails because her name is a play on words of TuTORIEL and tutorials are slow and snails are slow too.

R11)Butterscotch and Cinnamon pie.

R12)Alphys being an anime geek.

R13) Alphys and true lab.

R14) Asgore preflight dialogue, I sort of twisted it to make the phrasing work but it's pretty much the same
