Richard's POV

By the time I am out, Arabel is already in her red car, which she intends to keep here in the mansion till she comes back to visit.

She has Daisy in the back seat as she drives off.

Mother is standing in confusion, but as soon as I am close enough to grab my car door, she lunges at me.

“What the hell have you done again, you bastard?!” She yells, slapping my face and hitting my chest at the same time.

My throat is closing up as my emotions spiral out of control. I should have told her. Caleb warned me, but I didn't listen.

I need to go after her.

Before I can say anything to my mother, Caleb grabs her and whispers some words to Ashley, whose face is also fluttering with confusion.

Ashley takes hold of my mother, and Caleb pushes me over to the passenger's seat before jumping into the driver's seat and driving out at a high speed.

I have to find her. We need to get to her before the plane takes off. I need to tell her how sorry I am. I didn't mean to keep it away from her. My fears stopped me from telling her.

The other day, when I was so confident that I was ready to tell her, she came in in a sour mood, and I changed my mind. I felt it wasn't right to tell her what I had done, keeping it away from her for days when she was already in a bad mood because of Alex's text.

I should have just told her.

I should have mentioned it the next day, the day after, or even yesterday, when she got a call from London requesting her presence.

I should have told her this morning when we woke up snuggled into each other's arms.

But I was scared. I was scared she would get up and leave, never coming back, because I kept a huge thing away from her.

Now, after everything, my fears are manifesting.

She is leaving. This time, in anger. And I saw the look on her face. The look, which expressed how hurt she was, after she had given me another chance to prove myself.

Shit! I hit the board in front of me.

Shit!

Shit!

“She found out, right?” Caleb demands from me, sparing me a glance before looking back to the road, increasing the speed so we can catch up with her.

I haven't even caught a glimpse of her car yet, and it makes me worry.

At what speed is she driving? Worry skates to edges of my mind.

Please, be fine!

I'm sorry.

“Richard, did you tell her like I asked you to?” Caleb asks again, watching me with the I-told-you look. He knows I didn't. “Shit! I warned you, didn't I?”

“I was scared!” I scream out my frustration. “I wanted to tell her, but I was f**king scared she would be upset and leave. I didn't want her to leave when something beautiful had just sprung up between us…”

“She was going to know anyway. Whether it's now or later, You mess up, man. You should have told her!” He snaps back angrily, and I remain mute.

Dragging a hair through my hair and muttering curse words. As I dart my eyes to the wheels, impatience flows through my existence. “Faster, Caleb. Drive faster! Dammit!”

He doesn't reply to me.

If he does, it could potentially lead to a fight. He is driving fast enough. I am not just satisfied because I wish I can fly to wherever she is right now and beg her to listen to me.

I wanted to tell her. I planned to do that as soon as she was back in London.

Shit!

“Get yourself together!” Caleb retorts, as my breath speeds up when I see a red car right in front of us.

He sees it too, so he increases the speed limit.

To hell with traffic rules!

I ball my fist in anticipation, ready to jump out of the car as soon as he double crosses the car and stops it from going further.

When the car is side by side with the red car, I stick my head out to shout at her to stop driving, only to see a stranger give me a scathing glare due to the close proximity.

Horror washes over me. Splashing to my face like iced water.

Shit!

Ducking my head back in, I slam my fist on the board again, as Caleb slows down with a frustrated groan.

The red car drives away, leaving me to coil up in the car seat, trying to push down the choking tide of panic stuck in my chest.

I take deep, slow breaths as we approach the airport.

As soon as Caleb gets a place to park, I jump out, racing towards the departure lounge. The speaker is already calling on all onboarders to the plane.

The plane is leaving in five minutes.

I need to make it to her before then. Beg her and apologize for my stupidity.

She wouldn't want to miss the flight.

I scan around the crowd, with Caleb running towards me and twirling around at intervals.

There is no sight of my black-haired, brown-eyed woman or my little girl.

Arabel wore a stunning black gown, while Daisy also donned a pink gown.

I can't find them.

“There,” Caleb calls out, pointing ahead of me. When I turn around, I see a woman her height, but Daisy isn't with her.

Without giving that much thought, I lunge forward, pushing past a lot of people before finally stopping in front of her to see another stranger staring at me in surprise.

No!

Not again.

“Arabel?!” I scream, uncaring of the attention I am getting. “Bella, I am sorry.”

Caleb is nowhere in sight, and I hope he must have found her somewhere.

Despite my apology, I can't see her. Everything wears off as I squat to the floor, realizing how I have just missed another opportunity she gave me to prove myself.

With my body sinking to the floor right in the middle of the airport, I don't remember how long I stayed there while waiting impatiently for her to change her mind about hearing me out.

Just hear me out and go.

Don't just leave with hatred in your heart.

Give me another chance.

Running feet dart my eyebrow up to Caleb's face. Breathlessly, he announces. The plane is gone.”

“Shit!”

“And Arabel isn't on the plane,” he completes, fear crawling slowly to his heart.

“What?!” I shoot to my feet with shock, submerging my whole existence.
