Nasreen's POV:
It just finished raining heavily outside and everywhere seemed cool ,I was in my room scribbling words in my jotter while Yasmeen was on the bed fast asleep. The door opened and I turned to see the familiar face I expected to see.
"Have you prayed yet?"Mom asked from where she stood by the door side
"Yes" I simply replied back turning back to continue what I was doing
"Nasreen I....."
She stopped midway and was about retreating her steps when I asked her this question.
"Aren't we enough mother?, " I said dropping my pen and closing the jotter
She stood still as she turned looking at me . This time we faced one another from where we were
"Yasmeen and I, aren't we enough ?Why do we need to merge families together " I asked
She looked sideways at the sleeping Yasmeen laying on the bed. She moved towards her ,sat on the bed and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek. Yasmeen smiled a bit in her sleep.
"Is there a problem with your soon to be father?"
"Father! Mom he can't be my father not that I know he's my classmate and friend's dad ,mom it would look somehow" I said
"What about Yasmeen?"she asked
"What about Yasmeen?" I repeated
"Young lady don't answer my question with a question "she warned.
"Yasmeen likes him alot, very much there were days she wished she had a father just like the other kids in school" She said
"Mom other kids in school and Yasmeen aren't the same"I said
"What's the difference? What's it? Do you know how hard it is for me to bring you up as a single parent " She said
"Mom it has been only 2 and a half years since dad demise ,mom I......."
"2 and a half torturing years ,Do you think your father will be happy seeing me like this ? Do you?"
I looked sideways trying hard to blink back my tears.
"See I thought as much " she said
" If only your dad was alive....."
I stood up from where I sat next to my desktop and walked past my mom
"Where do you think you are going?" She asked
"I need some fresh air ,I will be back soon"I said trying hard not to bring those tears out.
Mom sighed before nodding her head in affirmation
"You may go"she simply said and I walked out.
....................
Outside,I sat down at rocking chair in the balcony as I rocked myself to swing. Tears were about falling off my eyes so I removed my glasses and threw them to the other side of the chair causing it to fall and break . I heard the sound of a glass breaking but I never bothered to check it because I was so busy crying that I chose to ignore it. My soft stiffles came to a stop when I heard a footstep approaching me and handing my glass unto me. I couldn't see well due to my eye pain ,my imagery was blurry with what I had,I looked up at the person ."Look who I happened to come across today" the person said smiling a bit
"What do you want ?" I asked fixing my glasses to my face.
My glasses cracked so bad that I couldn't help but manage it until I get one from my optician tommorrow being it a Monday
"Is that how a neighbor, classmate and friend talks to her friend?" She asked before sitting down next to me
