Burke pulled Cristina to the ground, covering her body with his. Dylan dropped covering his head. When the bomb didn't go off, the three slowly stood up and looked at James body only to see their friend with their hand inside James holding the bomb

"What did you do?" Cristina gasped staring at her friend wide eyed

Aelia has had enough near death experiences to know you should stay calm. She knows that if you hear a gun go off, you run, if there's a bomb, you let it blow do not try to be a hero, if there's a drive by you drop to the ground, a fire get out first, a gang war happening you don't get in the middle and don't leave your house at night

These are things she knows by heart. These are things she lives by and things she taught her kids. You don't break any of these rules... Expect she broke them some times

When Lip was outside playing in the yard and a gun went off too close to him. Aelia didn't even think as she ran outside, into the open where she could have gotten shot and grabbed Lip

When Carl was at a friend house and that same house caught fire, Aelia didn't waste a second when she saw Carl still inside, running into the fire not caring for the burns she was getting

When Ian and Debbie were caught in the crossfire of a shootout between two gangs. Aelia didn't even care that she shot two gang members in the shoulder and leg because she needed her siblings out

Aelia has taught her kids self-preservation. Something everyone needed to survive the southside but the moment her kids were threatened, she threw her own out the window. We protect our own. That is the mottle the Gallaghers live by

And that is the Mottle Meredith, Cristina, Alex, Bailey and Webber have been added too

So when she saw her friend, her sister move towards the body, ready to take Hannah's position, she didn't think. If there's a bomb? You let it blow up. That's what she told her kids. Let it blow, get out fast and don't stop running until you're safe. That's what she should have done. But the instinct to protect her sibling- blood or not- overriding her self-preservation

Pushing Meredith away, Aelia pushed her hand into the wound and grabbed the bomb, holding it straight. Her eyes stayed on the body as her friends, Burke and Dylan stood up

Meredith looked at her friend "Aelia, what did you do?" Aelia tore her eyes away from her hand and looked at her sister "I told you...I protect my own"

Alex stood near the nurses station with the chief and Tyler. He had Andrew in his arms, having picked him up the moment he was on the floor "Chief!" The three turned to see Olivia rushing towards them

"Nurse Harper, what is it?" Richard asked the panting nurse. Olivia took a deep breath and looked at the group of three, swallowing. She knows, just like everyone else in this hospital that these four, plus Bailey, Meredith and Cristina are extremely protective over the Gallagher girl

The whole hospital was protective of Aelia, even her, even though she hasn't really spoken to Aelia a lot, she was always kind to the nurses. But those 6? Olivia fear what will happen when they hear the news she just got

She's just glad Bailey isn't with them. That woman is scary

"The woman with hand on the bomb, she uh, she left"

"What?" Alex asked sharply, making Olivia wilt. Richard looked around and saw a lot of people near them so he motioned to an empty room. The group of four- five if counting Andrew- walked into the room. Once the door shut, Richard turned to the nurse "What do you mean she left? Where the hell did she go? And most importantly, if that girl isn't holding the bomb, then who the hell is!"
