Hehe, this might explain the most recent entry to the chatfic. Enjoy!————————————————————————
It shined against the sun's rays, projecting images around the room as Davey twirled it in his hands, marking the deep colored walls with temporary pictures. Davey sighed to himself as he stared, imagining it on Jack's finger.
It was beautiful—delicate, small but so brightly Jack Kelly, with a dark gold band and green stones surrounding one diamond, as big as Davey could afford. Most people, the rich kind, would bask in his embarrassment of not being able to buy a larger stone, but what he spent on it was at least half of the rent; he was lucky Jack planned to cover his half with the money he would get from an upcoming art show.
But as pricey as it was, it lacked the simplicity strived for with numbers Davey didn't want to dream of lest he find himself tempted to achieve them. It was grand, and busy—larger than life, than New York. It was a ring so encapsulating of his boyfriend, he would wear it himself if he didn't plan to propose with it.
Davey smiled to himself, looking over at his boyfriend. It was eight in the morning now, and Davey was only awake because of his summer school schedule—even now was later than usual. Jack was sleeping, mouth slightly open and softly snoring, hair tossed about his head with no real ferocity, clashed against the white pillow cases. He was wearing one of Davey's t-shirts, an old one he got at a summer camp he went to as a kid, and it was slipping from his shoulders from a wild sleep. He appeared naturally; beautifully.
Jack had an air about him, one that Davey easily fell in love with: confidence was often false in a world where people are paid for it, but Jack managed to find what little of it actually existed from birth. There were smiles people saw in old movies, wide and brighter than the sun, and Jack had one bigger than that, one destined for fame. There were laughs formed to impress, and Jack's was so loud and imperfect, it started trends. There were minds, delicate and unbelievable, and Jack thought with it everyday, kind enough to share his ideas like no other before him. Davey didn't know what to do with himself.
He swallowed gently, selfishly unwilling to lay in bed another second without seeing Jack's eyes, having missed them in his sleep. He placed a soft kiss to Jack's forehead, planting several more across the visible side of his face as if they contained seeds of promise. He pushed curls of Jack's hair back and kissed there, smiling softly when the man began to stir, and chuckling tiredly as he leaned into them, smile morphing into a grin when Davey kissed his cheek.
"Morning", Jack greeted, laughing at the ticklish love bites. Davey planted one final kiss before Jack turned to face him, eyes blinking tiredly awake. "That was nice."
"You deserved it", Davey shrugged, placing the ring on the nightstand beside him and sliding deeper under the covers to level with his boyfriend, laying against his forearm and bicep, ear hanging in the space between them. "You deserve all the nice things."
Jack chuckled with his eyes closed, cuddling into the pillow he lay on, and Davey's heart almost stopped. "Thank you, my subject. Your kind words shan't be forgotten."
"Bite me. I was trying to be nice."
"There's the boyfriend I know and love", Jack joked, kissing the man in front of him. "And you're very nice. You're the nicest."
Davey hummed, staring into the dark green eyes he had dreams about. Jack stared back, searching his eyes for a small indication that none of this was real. All he was returned was a hazel forest of adoration, the kind even people trained in showcasing emotion couldn't portray as well. A pure kind of flame that won't go out, like a trick candle being blown with smoker's lungs. Jack smiled teasingly.
