Ladies and gentlemen, I am a fraud.Prior to this night, I hadn't watched Newsies (1992) or Newsies Live in two years. Two whole years.
I've just been busy, finding new interests and writing fanfiction. That being said, I watched both in three days, and this is what I've noticed in the pro-shot:
1) Mike and Ike are wearing the exact same thing.
2) Davey totally followed the Bowery Beauties with his eyes (read: respectable my ass).
3) Davey is WAY more confident than I thought. I knew he had a little bit of nerve but it's way more than I expected. He's honestly more confident than 92sies Davey.
4) Aisha de Haas gets the most camera angles (as mother should).
5) Some of the lines are weirdly ableist from the beginning, which I know is accurate to the time but the movie didn't even do this? It feels unnecessary.
6) Jack being an artist was someone's headcanon made canon, I just know it.
7) Race smoking cigars is also a headcanon made canon. In the movie I think he just constantly has a cigarette (so does Jack but no one mentions it?).
8) Some of the newsies work for the Journal and others for the World.
9) "I've GOT my shirt on-"
10) Mush hits Race with his hat.
11) Finch has a way bigger role than in the movie.
12) Dave's not as sassy in the first act:/. I feel like he comes out the gate with sass but in the first act he's kind of like "For the love of God, why did my dad make me do this with THESE kids???"
13) Les just carries around pencils???
14) Davey and Jack are actually a functioning partnership. They both contribute to the strike equally—they both create speeches and they both raise and gain support.
15) Davey is actually up there with Jack when he writes "STRIKE".
16) Boots just doesn't exist? Like his lines in the movie are given to other characters.
17) If you don't have a vest, you wear suspenders:)
18) Les has a bigger role, too (yay!).
19) JJ was feeling "The World Will Know" in the depths of his soul lol I heard that little "Come on!" That's a man who loves music.
20) Serving them water mid performance is genius (and deserved).
21) Elmer's vacant "wth did he just say" look when Davey says "auspicious".
22) Davey has a fear of Brooklyn when he has no idea what's significant about it—as far as we know.
23) Everyone "oohing" when Jack's arrogance gets handed back to him.
24) JJ did something slightly illegal: it's a weird law in New York that you can't put your thumb on your nose and wiggle your fingers at someone.
25) Jack getting curved HARD.
26) Each version gives so much credit to The Sun for writing about this strike which is well deserved—it's because of them that we can get what we can:).
27) In the entirety of this proshot, there are only about five women. All of them are not newsies.
29) "Them Brooklyn boys is big." Tommy Bracco is 5'4, don't even.
30) Jack and Davey actually being a functional partnership is what makes the betrayal more painful than in the movie.
31) Specs has a very up there role in LM Newsies system (?). He doesn't in the movie.

FanfictionI couldn't step away from these, so I made a new one. If you have any ideas or requests, let me know! The story isn't really mature, there's just about two chapters involving guns and gangs, and Wattpad changed the rating
