While I was setting the table for dinner for Christmas night, I couldn't help but hear some faint whispers coming from behind the corner.

I lift my head slowly, looking around the room. My mother and father were taking something out of the oven, presumably ham, while Hyunjins parents were probably cutting vegetables in the next room over. When I look to my left, Wonpil was sitting with both of my cousins, telling them a story from college while watching tv.

I set down the last plate, my ears still perked as the faint whispers continue. Following the sound, I slowly walk over to the wall, trying to get a better listen.

And that's when I recognized the voice.

"Fuck maybe he didn't like it? That's why he never mentioned it. But was the ring too much? No he got me such a thoughtful gift, I probably should've done better!" Hyunjin whispers to himself, fiddling with his fingers as his eyes were shut closed.

The fuck?

"I should've known better too! First kisses are supposed to be special and I ruined it by getting wasted. Stupid stupid stupid Hyunjin." The boy hits his forehead while groaning at the thought.

I cover my mouth to stifle a laugh. Hyunjin was really talking to himself right now? The cuteness was practically radiating from the walls now.

My stomach was a full storm of butterflies.

So he really did care huh?

Maybe this feeling wasn't just me...

"I should've made it special. He deserved it!" He sighs one last time before covering his face with his hands in frustration.

I was pretty much peeking my head past the corner to see the olders expressions, my heart thumping out of my chest at every word he said.

He's way too cute to be the cool kid at school. If anyone else saw him right now, they would burst out laughing and probably record the situation

However, before I could dwell on the thought and perhaps take my own phone out to record this blackmail worthy moment, Hyunjin suddenly turns his head to exit his spot behind the corner.

He almost yelped as he jumped back when he spotted my head peaking over the wall. My eyes widen as well when I realize I've been caught, nervous bubbles rising up into my throat.

"M-Minnie! D-don't tell me you..." Hyunjin stutters, running his hands nervously through his hair, straightening himself out as if nothing happened, "Y-you didn't hear anything right...? When... uhm when did you get there hah!"

I can't help myself this time. I clutch my stomach and giggles echo out of me, inviting their sounds to the nerve struck Hyunjin across from me.

The giggles turn to laughs as the image of a panicked Hyunjin whispering to himself continues to replay in my mind. I'm practically about to fall to the ground from how hard I was laughing.

"Y-yah!" Hyunjin lets out a small giggle as well, pouting at my reaction as it was clear he was hella nervous.

The sounds of voices from the other room fill our ears, reminding us that we weren't alone. An idea suddenly pops into my head, with a boost of confidence, I reach our and grab Hyunjins hand, startling him a bit.

"What are y-you..." Hyunjins voice is cut off as I pull him toward the front door, opening it as quietly as possible in order to avoid any suspicion from anyone else in the house.

I pull the older outside, the skin piercing cold wind greeting us as I closed the door behind me. The two of us now stood outside the front door, face to face, talking for really for the first time today.
