A squeak here and an out of tuned note there, it was disastrous in the band room. There wasn't much you could expect from a bunch of middle school children when it comes to playing an instrument.

The conductor winced at the chaos — everyone was playing at different rhythms and multiple incidents of notes being played wrong. "Kids, can we count the rests....nevermind we'll end it here. Please bring home your instruments to practice." The conductor spoke while rubbing his temples. "You all should learn from Jiyun, she plays it the best."

"Hey! What about me?" The 12 year old Mark spoke up, pointing towards himself with an expectant look.
"Pfft you're literally out of tune all the time what kind of question is that?" Jiyun snickered from her seat beside him.

"That's not very nice of you." Mark frowned, he brought his flute back up to his lips. "Listen!" He demanded before blowing into his flute, wanting for it to sound out a nice C but yet came out flat.

Jiyun giggled at Mark whose face had dropped, the frown returning back to his lips. "Your note is airy and flat." The girl commented, taking her clarinet case from under her chair to keep her instrument.

"She's so arrogant." Mark muttered under his breath as he kept his flute, still sulking over her criticism.
"Hey I can hear you, you know dude?"
"I wasn't even....talking?"
"You're a bad liar."
"And you're a big bully!" Mark quipped, now getting annoyed at her incessant comments.

The tips of Jiyun's lips curved downwards at his words, not meaning to hurt him. "I'm sorry." She apologised. "I wasn't trying to be mean."

Mark glanced at her, noticing her dampened mood and felt the sincerity through her words. "Oh uh it's fine."

"Hey how about we be friends?" Jiyun spoke while looking at him, a gleam of excitement in her eyes. Mark lips stretched into a shy smile, suddenly flustered.

"Uh sure I guess."
