In the dimly lit room, the scent of popcorn and chips filled the air, mingling with the faint aroma of peppermint from the diffuser. The three friends were sprawled across both the floor and bed in Jiyun's dorm, all deeply engrossed in the action movie that played on the wall through a projector.

The crumbs of chips scattered across the floor made Jiyun scoff in annoyance, nudging Haerin with her foot as a warning. Her irritation was forgotten as the movie reached the pivotal scene, her concentration solely on the movie that played.

The group of friends had decided to hang out two days after the whole meeting with the dream members. Chaewon and Haerin had planned on further interrogating their friend but clearly got diverted from their original plan. With the movie keeping them at the edge of their seats, their interrogation was kept at the back of their minds.

The peaceful atmosphere that encapsulated the room was broken when Jiyun's phone rang. She reached for her phone to look at the contact, her eyes softened when she realised it was her mum. "Guys, it's my mum can we pause for a bit," she spoke through the silence, pausing the movie once the other two had allowed her to.

"Hey mum, what's up?" She greeted lively.
"Oh my dear! How are you, are you doing okay there still? You haven't called in a while so I thought I should check in," Her mum paused when she heard a chorus of 'hello' in the background. "Oh are you with your friends? Did I interrupt you guys' hang out?"

"Nah it's fine we were just watching a movie, wait do you want to talk to them I'm gonna put you on speaker," Jiyun announced before placing her phone down after turning the call on speaker mode.

"Hey girls! How have you guys been?"
"Good. It's really fun here in Korea, school is okay since we only need to pass our modules," Chaewon chirped, happily replying to the elder's queries.

"Oh! And we even went to a concert two days ago, it was so fun," Haerin brought up, grinning ear to ear from the memory. The elation they had from that day was etched deeply into their core memories, never was there a dull moment in those shared memories together.

"That's great! Whose concert was it? Was it a classical musician or was it a university concert for the students to show their talents?" Jiyun's mum rambled excitedly.

Jiyun's eyes widened when she realised that they were trailing right into a forbidden boundary. She was about to open her mouth to spew some casual lies or divert the topic away from the topic, but her friend had beat her to it. "Oh no! It was an NCT Dream concert," Haerin exclaimed, unaware of the information that she had just handed over on a silver platter.

There was a beat of silence, before Jiyun made a rapid move to grab her phone back, turning off the speaker mode. "Mum it's getting late and the security guard is going to come knock on our doors to check that we aren't lurking in each other's rooms so I should send Haerin and Chaewon off," Jiyun spoke with a feigned steady tone, her eyes shooting daggers towards her friends as a warning for them to go along with it.

"Wait. Han Jiyun. Did she say that you guys went for an nct dream concert?" The warmth to her voice was gone, and the flat tone left no room to tell what her mother was thinking. Jiyun squeezed her eyes shut, her brain twisting for ways to resolve the predicament.

"No she was saying that the concert felt like a fever dream yeah that's what she meant. It's because the university concert had some really talented people who were training to become idols," Jiyun breathed out. "Anyways, we got to go, bye mum! I love you."

"Alright dear, glad you guys liked the concert. I love you too," her mum replied, though she didn't sound fully convinced and the urge to interrogate further was at the tip of her tongue.

Jiyun heaved a sigh of relief once the call ended, raking a hand through her hair to tidy up the evidence of her prior distress. Her friends both blinked at her, lips forming a thin line as their eyes held a questioning glaze.

"Firstly, there is no security guard that checks on us," Chaewon started, raising her index finger up. "Secondly, what exactly happened just now?" Another finger up. "Lastly, is nct dream a taboo subject or something why was it like pin drop silence."

Jiyun could only let out a low grumble, falling back against her bed with a thump. "I don't really know the truth or the full story, it's mostly just speculations," she replied, turning to her side to face her friends who sat on the ground.

"Do you mind telling us? We can try to help you," Haerin suggested softly, reaching out to give her hand a comforting stroke to solidify their unwavering support for her.

"Ok basically you know how I dated Mark right? And then I lost my memories, I think his sasaeng fan might be the reason for my car accident," she spoke lowly, her every word held a heavy weight to them. Now that she said it out loud, everything felt more real. Her suspicions had been just suspicions, but after looking at how her mother reacted to simply the group name, it was like concrete evidence screaming in her face.

"Sometimes I dream about my memories but sometimes it is just hallucinations. I just dreamt about it one day and I'm still not very sure whether it was really a memory or not. I hate having amnesia," she groaned in frustration. "But from what I gathered, Mark told me that my mum got his company involved with the police too but they didn't tell him anything about what happened."

Her friends nodded in understanding, listening intently on her every words. "I'm sure your mum would tell you if you asked her, maybe you should try talking to her and telling the truth," Chaewon advised.

Jiyun shrugged in response, closing her eyes as she felt mentally exhausted just by discussing this topic alone. "I'm scared," she confessed. Her voice held a tinge of vulnerability, her eyebrows furrowed in anxiety. "I don't want to think that Mark's obsessed fan was the cause of everything, it's just so painful and I already feel bad enough for him. I don't want him to blame himself for being the reason we were split apart when he really isn't," she continued, distracting herself from the ache in her chest by fiddling with the hair tie around her wrist.

"Then, maybe you should tell Mark everything. You two should work together to find a resolution to the issue, I'm sure you guys are meant for each other," Haerin spoke thoughtfully. "And if anything goes south, you still have us to confide in."

Chaewon nodded firmly to Haerin's words, a consoling smile on her face directed towards the distraught Jiyun. "Thanks guys, maybe you guys are kind of useful after all," Jiyun joked, lightening the atmosphere. Though, a comforting warmth spread through her body at the solace her friends provided to her.
