Quiet lullabies played in the background, the blinds drawn and the room lit up by only a dim table lamp. The cooling air from the air conditioner helped contribute to the cosy atmosphere amidst the hot summer weather, placing the small room in its own little bubble.

The laptop was settled on Jiyun's lap, her head on Mark's chest while his arm circled around her. His head was rested against the headboard as he watched the drama that played on her laptop, his fingers subconsciously playing with her hair.

Their position would have been enough to lull Jiyun into deep slumber if it weren't for the adrenaline pumping in her veins from the crime drama that played. Mark glanced from the screen to her face, chuckling at her expressions  from being so engrossed in the show — wide eyes from the plot twists and the furrow of her eyebrows when someone gets stabbed.

"No way. What- so he was the murderer all along? Holy shit I love that dissociative identity disorder plot twists," Jiyun let out a soft gasp as they revealed the killer's identity.

"Yun, you've literally watched twenty of these exact kinds of crime drama with this exact plot twist, why are you still so surprised?" Mark asked, a contented smile on his face from looking at her being at ease and happy in that moment.

Jiyun hushed him as the show continued, pouting her lips when she realised she missed a part because of Mark's talking. She reached forward to play back the part that she missed, sticking her tongue out in concentration to find it. "It's all part of the beauty of crime thrillers, better than those boring and sappy romance dramas," she stuck her tongue out in disgust to emphasise her point.

Mark let out a light giggle, pinching her cheek in endearment. "You're so cute," he commented. A hint of a blush crept up Jiyun's cheeks at his compliment, her heart skipping a beat and her stomach doing somersaults.

"Since when did you learn how to flirt like that dude," Jiyun mumbled, pushing his face away as a teasing smile grew on his lips. "Now I don't want to watch my crime dramas with you anymore," she huffed, untangling herself from his arms and moving away from him, creating a distance.

He laughed at her sulking only for her pout to deepen. The drama was paused and forgotten amidst their banter, Jiyun closing the laptop shut to prove her point. "Okay okay, I'm sorry, come back here baby, you're warm," Mark whined once he collected himself, stretching an arm out to pull her towards him to close the gap. "I'll watch the drama quietly, I swear," he promised, an arm circling around her waist and cuddling to her side.
