Chapter 27 - A Wish Upon a Star

Nayeon and Junior opened the Vector Craft and looked outside.

They were the only remaining ship that survived Mina's Vectors and were able to penetrate the perimeter of the Coastal City.

They looked at the destruction of the city that was left in flames.

"So it was true... Vectors aren't just used to transmit the virus... They're also pure physical power used to destroy humans!", Nayeon gulped.

The status on the military attack on Mina were reported to the Joint Staff.

"Four military aircrafts were shot down. In addition, Admiral Jackson's escort vessel was sunken."

"Impossible... What about the Vector Craft?"

"It is unharmed. But our hands are full with defence alone. We can't get close"

"What do we do? Is there any way..."

"We've got no choice but to collaborate with the U.S forces and utilise nukes"

"What kind of fool would nuke their own country? Moreover, there's no point, as a missile couldn't even reach"

"Then maybe an explosion with a decent blast wave on that area just out of range from the rest of the Coastal City wil-"

"How the hell would we fine-tune a nuke that large?! Any sudden shift in the wind's direction would endanger the capital!"

"So you're saying there's no solution, am I right?"

The room went silent as the phone rang.

"Conference room 601... What...?"

"Mina stopped attacking?"

Momo looked up towards the lighthouse as the flames slowly died down.

"Mina's attacks... have stopped"

"Chaeyoung... I hope you aren't hurt..."

Jihyo gripped onto her throbbing shoulder before looking over at the worried Momo.

"Momo, go."

"Eh?"

"Your friends are up there, right?"

"But... I can't leave you"

"I'll be fine. Thanks to the timely help. I've also hurt a friend of yours. Please go help her in my place"

Jihyo looked at Momo seriously.

"Momo, you can do something nobody else can"

A tear welled up in Momo's eye.

"Okay!"

Dahyun and Sana were also headed up towards the lighthouse.

Dahyun ran up the steps as fast as she could with tears blurring her vision.

At that point, she wasn't even afraid of the fire that was still burning. She just wanted to see Chaeyoung.
