CALIFORNIA FISH GRILL"Ma'am, kindly stay back, please," said Benji to Ava, April's sister, who's now trying to bypass him to get to Andrew; meanwhile all of the customers that were dining-in were looking our way making irritated faces.
I'm not sure how things escalated the way it did since it all just happened so fast. I'm still confused and I'm all up in it like spaghetti and meatballs.
The manager came forth from the back room with an angry face, saying, “Ava, can you please follow me. We need to talk.”
“I don't want to talk right now, Mrs. O'Brian. At least not to you,” she says to her and then focuses her attention back to Andrew, telling him that they needed to talk but Andrew kept refusing her for some reason. But based on how she's acting, I'd probably be afraid to talk to her one on one myself. I could almost say for certain that this isn't the same person that first came by our table, but it was the same, the only difference now is that she's acting like a crackhead, begging for Andrew to speak with her.
“Ava,” Mrs. O'Brian called out in a commanding tone.
“What,” she asked her, saying, “can't you see that I'm busy?”
Mrs. O'Brian stared at her with her mouth hung open as she had been taken aback by Ava’s response but soon collected herself, calling Ava by her name once again, this time demanding her to come with her. However, she declined, refusing to let up on Andrew.
I assume by the look on her face, Mrs. O'Brian was beyond frustrated. So much so, she took her by her arm to pull her aside, saying to Ava, “what are you doing!? Why are you doing this?”
“I'm not doing anything, Mrs. O'Brian,” Ava feigned innocence.
“Well, can you come to my office then? We need to talk.”
“Go in the back for what? To get fired? Because you can do that right here.”
Mrs. O'Brian sighs exhaustedly, saying, “Ava, please, let's just go.”
“I'm not going,” Ava deadpanned. “Whatever you have to say to me, you can say it right here. The restaurant's about to close in less than thirty minutes. Nobody's coming around this time. Either way, the restaurant's practically empty.”
“Yes, because of you,” retorted O'Brian.
Rolling her eyes, Ava said to her manager, “just say what you have to say now. Let's save each other the trip.”
“That's not the professional way to go about things, Ava.”
“Well, you're already being unprofessional by calling me by my first name and not my last like you're supposed to, but you don't hear me complaining. But you may as well tell me right here and now whatever it is that you have to say.”
