Piercing cries flew from the mouths of my babies as the alarm rang loudly in our ears.

In a groggy voice, Andrew says from the floor, "Kendia, cut it off."

The same time I unlocked my phone was the same time the security system company called. I knew it had to be about the restaurant and the first thought that popped up into my mind was that someone was trying to break into my restaurant.

Unfortunately, it was not the case. However, I really wished it was. It's certainly better news than hearing that my restaurant that I put so much work into was burning down to the ground as we speak.

The lady from the security company sent me a video of the last captured video taken before all the cameras got toasted. It was of a black car pulling up across the street that waited until all of my employees left to break into the place and lit it on fire from the inside out.

It amazed me how this woman walked out of the place as if she had done nothing; however, despite being distraught, I'm happy to know that my employees weren't inside. At least she had a conscience by not burning them alive while they were in there. But I wonder what in the world must I have done to this lady for her to do this to me?

I sat up in my bed pondering for the longest time who I must've done wrong to but I came up short because I'm not the type of person to cause any trouble, none whatsoever, but it seems as though trouble chose to find me.

Snapping me out of my trace, Andrew says to me, "what's wrong with you?"

"N-nothing," I stuttered.

"What did you see in your phone that caused you to not hear the sound of the kids screaming their heads off? Because clearly you haven't moved an inch.”

“What do you think you're here for,” I snapped.

“Why are you snapping at me? I only asked a simple question.”

For a second I thought that I should tell him that my shop is burning down in shambles but then I caught myself midway and wondered what the hell he's doing that's so important that he can't get up and deal with the kids himself. I'm not the only parent.

I gave him one look from the corner of my eyes and he got up right away to deal with the kids.

As Andrew rocks both Keandra and Keandrew back to sleep he says to me, "what's going on with you? Did something happen?"

I shook my head no then I made my way out of the bed and went into the bathroom bursting into tears asking God why over and over.

Why do bad things keep happening to me? I just want to be happy. Is that too hard to ask?

After I somewhat pulled myself together, I stepped outside the bathroom, leaving my tears behind as I walked out as if nothing had ever happened. On the contrary, I felt as if my whole world was falling apart.
