"Can we go again tomorrow please," said Keandra as we were leaving the amusement park, headed towards the car.
"Please, please, please," Keandrew pleaded with his hands together.
"I think that's enough amusement that I can handle. But maybe dad can carry you guys," I told them and they asked him and he said yes. He then turned to my son Lj and said…
"Would you like to join us?"
Lj scoffed at his offer and said, "no, I'm straight."
"Okay," said Andrew sullenly.
I stopped in my tracks and I pulled Lj back by his shirt and I said to him, "excuse me sir. Is that how you are supposed to decline an offer? If you ask me, that was a bit rude."
"I don't know why he even thought to invite me anyway. If you ask me, he got what he was looking for. I'm not apologizing."
"Oh the hell you are! And guess what? You're gonna do it right now."
"I'm not."
"Pardon me???"
"I didn't stutter," said Lj, and if it weren't against the law and if we weren't in public right now, my foot would be far up his behind and surely it would be found in his throat for talking to me like that.
"Consider yourself to be lucky right now that we're in public," I said through gritted teeth, "because if we weren't, you would've known real quick who I am seeing that you must've forgotten. Don't think that because you are approaching your teen years that you can talk to your mother any kind of way. I'll knock your senses back into your head real quick if you miss and think that you can play with me. I'm not one of those children in your school, Liam. I'm your mother! Now, I'm not asking you to apologize to him. I'm telling you to apologize to him. If you love me as much as you say you do, you'd do what I say because if you don't, the police 'll be out here in the matter of minutes to take me away after I'm finished with you. And what you don't tote, you'll drag. Don't play with me, Liam! I can get real ghetto out here. So please, for the life of me, just apologize. Please and thank you.”
"Okay, I'll apologize, but I don't know why you bought me out here in the first place! I told you when you came by my dad's with him that I did not want to go. I don't want to hang around the guy. You continue to make me just because you guys are sleeping together and apparently your getting married again with this big ass ring on your finger; and that's cool and also your business, but leave me out of it. I just don't get why you are with this asshole! He don't deserve you. You said it yourself that you deserve better yet you went back to the bottom scum of the fanciest garbage to find him again and you expect me to be okay with trash," he exclaimed and before he even got the chance to utter another word I gripped him by the neckline of his shirt with tears in my eyes, inwardly praying that God help me to not do what I was ready to do.
It wasn't him expressing himself that was getting to me. It was the lack of respect and the use of profanity, especially around me that took me all the way to the edge.
