Currently outside Andre's room with ears that stand at attention and are opened wider than the ocean, I stood alongside Andre's door, listening in on a conversation that is clearly not my business or even something I believe I'm not even supposed to hear, but here I am.
“Are you gonna talk or what,” asked Adrian to his brother Andre.
“Talk about what!? I'm lost.”
“No, you know exactly what I just asked you. Don't start playing dumb and deaf on me now.”
“How about we not talk about this?”
“No,” said Adrian, “if anything, we should talk about this. And it's clear as day that the answer is yes seeing that you are trying your hardest to avoid answering the question. But just answer me this. I'm not gonna tell anyone. I'm just asking for the truth.”
“What's your question,” asked Andre.
Adrian said to his brother, “those roses Andrew was telling me about that she received at her job. Did you or did you not buy them? Be honest."
Andrew?
Roses?
Is this conversation about me?
"Truth," asked Andre.
"Yeah, I want the damn truth! I just asked you to be honest, didn't I?"
"Well yeah, I bought them."
I slapped a hand over my mouth to cover the sound of my gasp, thinking to myself, what the hell!
Andre was the one who bought them this whole time????
I would've never guessed.
Adrian responded, "bruh, you shouldn't have done that! Why'd you do that!? You got him thinking she's seeing someone."
"Oh well," says Andre and I imagined that he shrugged.
"No," Adrian exclaimed, "no oh well. This is a marriage we're talking about! What were you thinking!? Are you trying to ruin that?"
"To be honest I wasn't thinking about all that, but perhaps by me sending her those roses it might bring forth a good effect by making him realize that while he's out there abandoning his honey, someone's ready to taste that sugar. In my opinion that shouldn't cause confusion. If anything, it should produce open-mindedness and bring realization to his eyes that will in turn gravitate him to her more and reunite them. That should be a signal that someone is watching and he should treat her better or else. You know, scare him into action a bit."
"No. No, I don't know," says Adrian, "and you really gotta stop bro."
"I'm not doing anything but giving their relationship justice and now his focus can be back on her. A revival in their relationship. I may even dare to say 'resurgence'."
