"Girl, your sister is truly a mess," says Rishonda as she sipped on her tea, having told her about what went down earlier at my mom's.

"Tell me about it." I shook my head and suddenly my phone started ringing. I answered, "hello."

"Hi. Is this Kendia?"

"Um, yes. Who's this?"

"It's Shaniya.”

My brows furrowed as I replied, “yes?”

Clearing her throat, she said, “um, I know this is unorthodox and can come off as out of the blue, but I was wondering if we could meet up within the next hour."

My brows furrowed once more as I was taken aback by her request and was unsure of what to say.

My sister mouthed, "who's that," being nosey, but I didn't respond.

"Hello? Are you still there," Shaniya asks.

"Yes,” I answered. “But, whatever is the reason for this meetup? Is it about my son?"

"Um…not really.”

“Does Liam know you're calling me? Did he give you my number?”

“No, he doesn't know that I'm calling you and no, he didn't give me your number. I took it out of his phone.”

“So you know his password? Is that what you're telling me?”

“I mean, yes. I know his password. He gave it to me. But really, I only called because I guess I just wanted to talk to you."

“Oh wow! That's crazy,” I said, but more so to myself, and then said to her, "I mean, I think I've said all that I have to say to you already. I don't think there's really anything we have to discuss hereafter."

She sighs breathily and says, "Okay…um, I'm gonna be straight forward and out with it. I'll like it if you can be my bridesmaid please. I don't have any friends in this town and seeing that you said that there's no beef between us, maybe you can do this one favor for us. If it's too much to ask then I understand and I'm sorry I asked or even disturb you."

I scoffed, "are you being serious right now? You really think that I would stand beside you and be happy to see your union? I'm not that mature yet, sweetheart. As they say, confession is good for the soul and this is my confession. Just as you love Liam, I love him twice as much or maybe even more. I'm not ashamed to tell you that I'm a little jealous. Not really of you, but of the fact that you're gonna take a place I thought I would've been the one to hold. I seriously do love Liam. Now I'm not telling you that to say I'm gonna try my hand. No, from this point on, I'm gonna respect the relationship to the best of my abilities. But yes, I still love him and that'll never stop. I can't be any more real than that. However, for me to be your bridesmaid, the Lord has to come down from His throne and tell me to stand beside you. I'm not saying that I hate you or that you disgust the living soul out of me or even that you are a bad person, especially when you don't seem like one. I saw how Lj adored you and the other kids. You and Liam deserve happiness and to be honest I can't be happy for you guys right now. At this point in time I can't stand next to you with your best interests at heart. I'm not evil, but I might have a thought or two that you trip down when you're walking down the aisle or I may just raise my hand and object and I'm sure you don't want that. Maybe as time goes by I could accept everything for what it is; but for right now, I have to decline your request. It's a definite no for me. I'm sorry."
