When you hear the term "youth group" what comes to your mind? A peaceful Bible study? A nice nature walk where you can admire God's creation?

It's not like that. Not at my church at least. Our youth group meeting is in full swing, the room buzzing with energy and laughter. We've just finished our discussion for the night, and someone suggested we play a game of truth or dare to lighten the mood. Everyone is seated in a circle, excitement palpable as the game begins.

I'm seated next to C/N, my heart racing a little every time our shoulders brush. We've been friends for a long time, we've even gone on a few dates. But neither one of us have the courage to really do anything about our feelings.

"Alright, Y/N," one of the leaders, Brad says with a mischievous grin, "truth or dare?"

I bite my lip, feeling the pressure of all eyes on me. "Truth." I say, playing it safe because I know all hell is about to break loose.

Brad thinks for a moment before asking, "What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?"

I laugh, recounting a story from middle school about tripping in front of the whole class during a presentation. Everyone laughs, and I can feel C/N's gaze on me, his smile making my heart flutter.

I look to BSF/N, "Truth or dare?"

"Dare." She scoffs confidently.

"Dare," she scoffs confidently.

I grin, a mischievous idea forming in my mind. "I dare you to do your best impression of Brad."

The room erupts in laughter as BSF/N stands up, adopting a serious expression and mimicking our leader's mannerisms perfectly. She even nails his catchphrases, earning applause and cheers from everyone.

"Alright, my turn," BSF/N says, still giggling. She turns to another friend, "Truth or dare?"

"Truth," they reply, a little more cautiously.

BSF/N thinks for a moment before asking, "What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?"

They laugh, recounting a hilarious story about accidentally eating a piece of dog food when they were a kid, which sends everyone into fits of laughter.

Next, it's C/N's turn. He turns to me with a playful smile. "Y/N, truth or dare?"

Feeling brave, I say, "Dare."

He grins, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "I dare you to do your best dance move."

I laugh, standing up and striking a ridiculous pose before breaking into my silliest dance moves. I'll do anything to entertain the kids. The room fills with laughter and applause, and I can't help but notice C/N's amused expression.

As I sit back down, Brad's phone buzzes. He glances at it and sighs. "I have to step out for a few minutes. You guys keep it fun, but don't get too crazy, alright?"

The room buzzes with a new level of excitement as Brad leaves. The moment the door closes behind him, the game takes a turn.

"Alright, who's next?" someone asks, barely containing their excitement.

"I'll go," says one of the younger boys with a mischievous grin. He looks directly at C/N. "Truth or dare?"

"Dare," C/N responds confidently.

The boy's grin widens. "I dare you to kiss Y/N."

My heart skips a beat, and I feel a rush of nervous excitement and anticipation. The room falls silent, everyone's eyes on C/N.

C/N's eyes meet mine, and for a split second, I see a flicker of hesitation. Then he shakes his head, a small smile playing on his lips. "I'm not going to do that."

There are groans and protests from around the circle, but C/N holds his ground. "Not because I don't like Y/N," he says, looking directly at me, "but because I don't want our first kiss to be like this." He whispers.

The room goes quiet again, and I feel a warm blush spread across my cheeks. C/N's words hang in the air, and I can't help but feel a mixture of relief and something else—hope.

Before anyone can say anything else, C/N turns to the boy who dared him. "But I will take a different dare."

The boy, looking slightly disappointed but still wanting to keep the game going, thinks for a moment. "Fine. I dare you to do the chicken dance for one whole minute."

C/N laughs and immediately stands up, launching into an enthusiastic and ridiculous chicken dance. The room erupts in laughter, and the tension from the previous dare dissolves into pure fun.

As the game continues with more silly and hilarious dares, I find myself stealing glances at C/N, my heart full of newfound admiration. When Brad finally returns, he looks around the room, raising an eyebrow at the chaos but smiling nonetheless.

We wrap up the game and start to gather our things to leave. C/N walks over to me, his smile warm and genuine. "Tonight was fun," he says, his tone warm.

I nod, smiling back. "Definitely. I don't think I've laughed this much in ages."

He looks around to see if anyone is watching and says, "Hey, sorry about what happened earlier. I just didn't want it to be like that."

I nod, my heart fluttering. "I understand. And... thank you." Feeling a surge of courage, I take a step closer to him, looking up into his eyes. "You want to complete that dare now?"

C/N's eyes widen slightly, and then a slow, warm smile spreads across his face. He steps closer, closing the distance between us. "Are you sure?" He looks around and then back at me, "In the church parking lot?"

I shrug, my heart pounding. "I mean if you're too chicken to do it—"

He quickly tilts my chin up, his eyes searching mine for just a moment before he leans in and presses his lips to mine. The kiss is soft and sweet, sending a thrill through me. The world seems to fade away, leaving just the two of us in this perfect moment.

When we finally pull back, his forehead rests against mine, and he whispers, "I am no chicken,"

I smile, feeling a rush of happiness. "Definitely."
