The morning sunlight filtered through the blinds, casting a soft glow across the room as I slowly woke up. The gentle sound of waves crashing against the shore was a soothing reminder that we were at the beach, and I couldn't help but smile at the thought. Both of our families had rented this beach house together for the week, and I was determined to make the most of every moment.

I stretched lazily, taking in the cozy atmosphere of my room. The salty breeze wafted in through the open window, and I could already hear the faint laughter of the kids playing outside. A vacation at the beach was exactly what I needed, a perfect escape from the everyday routine.

Sliding out of bed, I grabbed my favorite sundress and slipped it on before making my way downstairs. The smell of breakfast greeted me as I entered the kitchen, where our families were already gathered around the table, chatting and enjoying the morning.

"Good morning," I greeted everyone with a smile, grabbing a plate and helping myself to some scrambled eggs and toast.

"Morning, sleepyhead," My mom teased, passing me the orange juice. "We thought we'd have to send C/N up to wake you."

I laughed softly, taking a seat at the table next to C/N. "It's vacation. I'm allowed to sleep in you know."

He glanced at me with a smirk. "Yes but you should still participate in activities that don't involve a bed." I give him a weirded out look and he shrugs it off. "I'm ready to hit the beach. You coming?"

"Yeah, but don't expect much action from me." I replied, buttering my toast. "I'll probably just look for seashells all day."

C/N raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed with my plan. "Come on, you did that yesterday. You can't come to the beach and not go in the water. That's the whole point."

I shrugged, trying to play it off casually. "The ocean's not going anywhere. But sand dollars will. Besides, I've always been more of a seashell collector."

He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms with a knowing smile. "We'll see about that."

After breakfast, I grabbed my bucket and headed toward the beach. The sun was already warming the sand, and I could feel the heat under my feet as I made my way closer to the shoreline.

C/N and the others were already in the water, splashing around and enjoying the waves. I couldn't help but watch as he dove into the surf, his carefree laughter echoing across the beach. He was clearly having the time of his life, and I was content with my little quest along the shore.

As I bent down to pick up a particularly interesting shell, I heard a familiar voice call out to me. "Get in, N/N!"

"Pass!"

"Hey, what's the matter? Afraid of getting wet?"

I looked up to see C/N wading closer to the shore, his eyes sparkling with mischief. I rolled my eyes, pretending to be focused on my seashell search. "I'm not afraid. I just don't feel like swimming right now."

He waded closer until the water was lapping at his knees. "You're missing out, you know. The water's perfect."

"Maybe later," I said, hoping he'd drop it.

But C/N wasn't one to give up so easily. He leaned down, scooped up some water in his hands, and flung it in my direction. I gasped as the cold water splashed against my legs, soaking the hem of my sundress. "C/N CL/N!" I shouted, more surprised than angry.

He grinned, clearly enjoying himself. "What? You looked like you needed to cool off."

I narrowed my eyes, trying to act annoyed, but the playful gleam in his eyes made it impossible to stay mad. "You're going to pay for that."

"Come and get me," he taunted, taking a few steps back into the water.

I hesitated for a moment, glancing at the bucket in my hand. Then, with a determined smile, I set it down on the sand and marched toward the water. If he wanted me in the ocean, I'd make sure he regretted it.

As soon as I reached the edge of the water, he splashed me again, this time soaking the front of my dress. I squealed and lunged at him, but he quickly dodged out of the way, laughing as he did. "You're too slow!" I chased after him as he retreated into deeper water.

Despite my best efforts to stay dry, the waves soon had me drenched. But as I finally managed to splash him back. But just as I started to turn away, thinking C/N would finally leave me alone and let me get back to my shell hunting, I felt a sudden, cold splash against my back. I gasped, my whole body tensing at the unexpected shock.

Before I could even process what happened, I spun around to see C/N grinning at me, mischief written all over his face. "Gotcha!"

"Oh, you are so in for it now!" I shouted, my eyes narrowing as a playful determination surged through me. Without a second thought, I charged toward him, my feet splashing through the shallow water as I closed the distance between us.

He tried to back away, but he wasn't quick enough this time. I leaped forward and tackled him, wrapping my arms around his waist. We both went tumbling into the water, waves crashing around us as we fell. He let out a surprised laugh as he hit the water, and I couldn't help but laugh with him, feeling a rush of victory.

"Okay, okay, you win!" he sputtered, still laughing as he tried to sit up in the shallow waves.

"That's what you get brat," I said triumphantly, though I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

He looked up at me, still catching his breath, and for a moment, there was a softness in his gaze that made my heart skip a beat. "I guess I deserved that," he admitted, his voice warm and teasing.

"Yeah, you did," I agreed, still holding on to him as the water lapped around us.

We stayed like that for a moment, just enjoying the sound of the waves and the closeness between us. Then, with a playful shove, I pushed him back into the water one last time before finally letting him go. He wiped his eyes and splashed me one more time before standing up.

As we finally surfaced, the water dripping from our hair and faces, C/N couldn't resist teasing me one more time. His eyes sparkled with mischief as he caught his breath. "You're a lot more fun when you're not hiding from the ocean."

I playfully swatted at him, trying to keep a straight face. He grinned, stepping closer until we were almost chest-to-chest. I watched as his gaze softened, and he reached up to brush a wet strand of hair away from my face. The touch was gentle, almost intimate, and it made my heart race.

"You know," he said quietly, his voice barely audible over the gentle roar of the waves, "you're cute when you're mad."

Before I could respond, he leaned in, closing the distance between us. His lips met mine in a soft, sweet kiss, warm and reassuring. His arms wrapped around me, I melted into the kiss, feeling the water and everything else fade away.

When we pulled back, our faces were inches apart, and he gave me a soft, teasing smile. "Guess I'm not the only one who's full of surprises."

I smiled back, feeling a mix of shyness and exhilaration. "Yeah, guess so."
