My phone rings pulling me out of my trance. I pick up my phone, the caller id reads, C/N.

The tension in my chest releases and I let out a sigh as I answer the FaceTime. It loads for a few seconds before his face pops up on my screen.

He smiles and it feels as if my stress and worries completely melt away. I haven't seen him in about two months but he hasn't changed much. His H/C hair pokes through his hat and it looks like he's rocking a beard.

"Hey cutie." His rough voice rings through the phone sending a shiver down my spine. I miss his voice.

I wrap my free arm around my knee. "Hey." I smile shyly.

His eyes light up as he sees my smile. "What are you up to?" he asks.

I shrug, not wanting to unload all my stress on him. "You know, the usual. Busy with work and stuff. What about you?"

He chuckles softly, the sound warming my heart. "Same here. They've got me working some crazy hours."

"I noticed." I breathe out. "I feel like I haven't talked to you in ages."

"I just called you this morning." He recalls.

"That was forever ago." I whine jokingly making him laugh.

We giggle like a couple of kids. His eyes meet mine through the phone and he says, "I miss you."

I bite my lip, trying to hold back the flood of emotions. "I miss you too."

He shifts his phone, giving me a better view of his surroundings. He's outside, the sky a brilliant blue behind him. "I can't wait to see you again," he says, his voice softer now.

"Me too," I whisper. "Only a few more weeks, right?"

"Yeah," he nods, his smile turning a bit sad. "Just a few more weeks."

We sit in comfortable silence for a moment, just looking at each other. Even through the screen, I can feel the connection we share. It's these moments that make the distance bearable.

"So, got any plans for your birthday tomorrow?" He asks, breaking the silence.

I laugh softly, shaking my head. "Not really. Probably just a quiet night in. Maybe a movie or something."

He raises an eyebrow, looking slightly offended. "No big celebration? Come on, you deserve more than that."

I shrug again, trying to play it cool. "It's just another day. Besides, it's not the same without you here."

He sighs, running a hand through his hair. "I wish I could be there. You know I do."

"I know," I reply, my voice barely above a whisper. "But we'll make up for it when you get back, right?"

He grins, the sadness in his eyes replaced by a mischievous sparkle. "Oh, definitely. I've got some ideas in mind."

"Care to share?" I tease, trying to lighten the mood.

He leans closer to the camera, his voice dropping to a playful whisper. "Not a chance. You'll just have to wait and see."

I can't help but laugh, the tension in my chest easing a little more. "You're terrible, you know that?"

"But you love it," he fires back with a wink.

"Yeah, I do," I admit, feeling a warmth spread through me. "I really do."
