As we stepped out of the library, the crisp evening air hit us, sending a shiver down my spine. He immediately noticed and shrugged off his jacket, draping it around my shoulders without a word. I tried to hide a small smile, but he caught it anyway.

"See, I can be chivalrous when I want to be," he said, shooting me a playful look as we began our walk.

"Oh, I'm sure." I snorted. "I bet you'll ask for the jacket back in five minutes."

"Five?" He shook his head. "Wow, so little faith. I'll give it at least ten," he teased, feigning offense.

I nudged his arm as we strolled down the quiet sidewalk, our footsteps echoing in the cool night. "If you're giving it ten minutes, that must be a new record for you."

"Maybe I'm just trying to impress you." He glanced at me with a smirk.

"Oh, please. If you wanted to impress me, you'd have let me win at least one round of that trivia game."

He laughed, holding his hands up in mock innocence. "Hey, I can't help it if you don't know who directed The Godfather."

"Really? We're bringing that up?" I rolled my eyes, laughing. "It's not exactly common knowledge!"

"It is to a film buff," he retorted, raising an eyebrow.

I sighed, but it was more amused than annoyed. "Fine, next time I'll brush up on obscure film trivia to keep up with your genius."

"Good." He grinned. "Because I have a lot more useless knowledge I'd love to beat you at."

"Oh, don't worry, I'll be prepared." I lifted my chin in mock defiance. "I have a long list of my own useless knowledge just waiting for the perfect moment."

He leaned a little closer, lowering his voice conspiratorially. "Now, that I'd like to see."

I rolled my eyes but felt a blush creeping up my cheeks. "You're ridiculous, you know that?"

He grinned wider. "Yeah, but I make a good study buddy, right?"

I laughed, nudging his shoulder. "I'll give you that much."

Rain was the last thing on my mind as we walked side by side down the nearly deserted street, caught up in easy conversation and laughter. But the sky had other plans. The first fat raindrops fell, and before we knew it, it turned into a full-blown downpour.

"Of course," I laughed, throwing my arms up as water started to soak through my clothes. "Perfect timing."

C/N looked up at the sky, squinting against the sheets of rain. "Guess we're in for it," he said, but instead of looking annoyed, he just grinned, like the rain was some inside joke we were both in on.

We started to run, but it was pointless; we were drenched within seconds. I ducked under a nearby awning, wringing out my hair and trying to catch my breath. C/N joined me, his H/C hair plastered to his forehead, water dripping off his nose. He looked over at me with that roguish grin that made my stomach flip.

"Well, this wasn't in the plans," I said, brushing the water off my face, but I couldn't help the laugh that bubbled up.

C/N's gaze lingered on me, his eyes bright even in the dim light. "You look good wet," he teased, running a hand through his own soaked hair, making it stand messily.

I rolled my eyes, cheeks warming despite the cool rain. "You've got water in your brain if you think cheesy flirting is gonna work on me."

He stepped closer, raindrops still catching on his lashes, and there was this palpable tension, something electric that hung in the space between us. "I think it's working just fine," he said, voice low and playful.
