Our friends had gathered at the baseball field for a fun afternoon of playing together. Boys and girls split into two teams, and I found myself on the same team as C/N. My nerves were running high; I wasn't the most athletic person, and playing in front of him only added to the pressure.

"Don't worry, Y/N," BSF/N said, patting my back. "It's just for fun."

I nodded, trying to muster some confidence. "Yeah, just for fun." I try to stretch some, "I haven't played in years. I really don't feel like making a fool of myself."

"Well I haven't played at all so don't worry too much." She looks behind me and smirks. "Hey, C/N! CF/N! Come here!"

My eyes widen as I seethe, "What are you doing?!"

"Asking for some pointers." She winks as the guys stroll up.

"You called?" CF/N quirks a brow at her.

"Yes. How do you make a touchdown in this game?" She asks making us all turn to her.

"You're joking." I scoff. "That's football! You dummy!" I hit the bill of her ball cap making it fall into the dirt.

BSF/N laughed, picking up her cap and dusting it off. "Just wanted to lighten the mood."

C/N chuckled, his eyes twinkling. "Well, it's not as complicated as football, I promise. Just keep your eye on the ball and swing when it feels right."

CF/N nodded in agreement. "And don't be afraid to go for it. It's all about having fun today."

Their encouragement eased some of my nerves, and I found myself smiling. "Alright, I'll give it my best shot." BSF/N replies. "But CF/N, can you help me practice my catching?"

"Sure." He shrugs and walks off. I take a deep breath as they walk away.

"Nervous?" C/N asks making me flinch. How did I forget he was there? He snickers and shakes my shoulder, "Loosen up, L/N."

"Sorry." I laugh.

C/N flashes me his signature warm smile. "Hey, don't sweat it. Just enjoy yourself out there. You're going to do great."

His encouragement made my heart flutter, and I felt a bit more at ease. "Thanks, C/N. I'll try my best."

As we started playing, I focused on having fun and not letting my nerves get the best of me. The game was lighthearted, filled with laughter and playful banter. Just as I was starting to relax, another team showed up—a group of guys from the high school who often used the field for practice. They challenged us to a scrimmage, and our group eagerly accepted.

The atmosphere shifted as the game started. The other team was serious, and they immediately began talking trash, trying to intimidate us.

"Think you can handle this?" one of their players sneered at me as I stepped up to bat.

I smirked, not backing down. "Handle this? Please. I've seen toddlers throw better pitches than you."

His eyes narrowed, clearly not amused. "Big talk for someone who looks like they haven't held a bat since tee-ball."

I raised an eyebrow, stepping into the batter's box. "Just watch and learn. You might pick up a few tips."

I took a deep breath, trying to block out their words. C/N was on first base, and he gave me an encouraging nod. "You got this, Y/N. Just keep your eye on the ball."
