________________________The music pounds through the walls of the packed house, the low thrum of bass vibrating under my feet as I weave through the crowd. It's hot, loud, and a little overwhelming, but I promised my friends I'd make an appearance, so here I am—awkwardly clutching my drink and trying to find a quiet corner to hide in.
"Y/N! There you are!" F/N calls out, spotting me from across the room. She's already half-dancing, half-stumbling her way toward me. "You've gotta come meet these people—everyone's here!"
I give her a tight smile, not quite in the mood for mingling. "I'm just... you know, getting the vibe first."
She laughs, looping her arm through mine, clearly not taking no for an answer. "No hiding! Come on, it'll be fun."
Before I can protest, she's pulling me deeper into the throng of people. We push through groups of laughing, dancing partiers, and soon we're right in the middle of it all. I plaster on a smile, doing my best to pretend I'm having fun, but all I really want to do is escape.
Just when I think I might make a run for it, I feel a hand on my arm—a little too firm, a little too familiar. I turn to see a guy I vaguely recognize from school, his cocky grin way too close for comfort.
"Hey, Y/N," he says, leaning in so I can hear him over the music. "Didn't expect to see you here."
I force a smile, stepping back to put some distance between us. "Yeah, just came with some friends."
He doesn't take the hint. Instead, he steps closer, his hand sliding from my arm to my waist, making my skin crawl. "You wanna dance?"
I shake my head, trying to be polite. "I'm good, thanks."
But he doesn't let go. If anything, he tightens his grip, pulling me closer. "Come on, just one dance. You look like you're having a boring time."
"I'm really fine," I say more firmly, trying to move away, but he's not backing off.
Panic starts to rise in my chest, my heart pounding for a different reason now. I glance around, trying to find F/N, anyone, but she's lost somewhere in the sea of people. I try to step back again, but his hand holds me in place, his grin widening.
"Don't be shy," he murmurs, leaning in even closer. "Let me show you a good time."
"I said no." My voice is shaking now, and I hate how weak I sound.
But just as I'm about to push him away, another hand lands on his shoulder—this one firm, commanding, and way more intimidating.
"Back off, Derek," a deep voice says, and I look up to see C/N standing there, his expression dark, eyes hard as he stares the guy— Derek down.
Derek's smile falters, and he raises his hands in mock surrender. "Chill out, man. We're just talking."
"Doesn't look like it," C/N replies, his voice low but full of warning. "She said no... multiple times. You should listen."
For a second, Derek looks like he's going to argue, but something in C/N's stance must make him think twice. With a muttered curse, he steps back, shooting me a glare before disappearing into the crowd.
I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding, my heart still racing. C/N watches the guy leave before turning to me, his expression softening a little.
"You okay?"
I nod, still a bit shaken. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks."
He doesn't say anything for a moment, just studies me with those unreadable eyes of his. Then, with a small smile, he jerks his head toward the back door.
