C/N and I have been married for two years now, and it feels like a beautiful dream I never want to wake up from. Our love has grown deeper with each passing day, even through the challenges we face. To celebrate our special day, I've planned a cozy dinner just for the two of us.

The table is set with a soft, flickering candlelight that dances across the elegant, hand-painted china. Fresh flowers, their delicate petals whispering of romance, adorn the centerpiece. I've prepared his favorite meal—creamy garlic shrimp with a side of rosemary roasted potatoes, and a crisp garden salad. For dessert, ice cream because I got lazy.

He should be getting home soon, so I head to our closet to fetch my dress. Just as I'm about to pull it out, my phone rings. I quickly answer, hoping to keep my calm amidst the excitement.

"Hello?" I say, breathless from the whirlwind of preparation.

"Hey N/N," BSF/N draws out with a teasing tone.

I chuckle, amused by her voice. "What's up?"

"I'm just checking in to see if you burnt this year's anniversary dinner yet," she teases, making me groan.

"That was one time!" I defend, trying to keep the laughter out of my voice. I turn the phone on speaker and set it down as I frantically search for my dress. "And to answer your question, no. It's perfect actually."

"Well, that's a relief," she replies with a hint of satisfaction. "Has he gotten home yet?"

"No, but he's about to. Which means I have about 15 minutes to get ready." I finally find it—the dress I wore the day before our wedding. Its delicate fabric and intricate lace bring back such special memories.

"Ooo, are you going to put on that sexy lingerie you ordered last month? The one you had me vote on?" she asks, making me blush furiously.

"Shut up, BSF/N!" I interrupt with a laugh, my cheeks burning. Her laughter fills the line, and I can't help but join in.

"I just want you to know," she says, her tone softening, "that you two are an inspiration. I hope you have the most magical anniversary."

"Thanks, BSF/N," I reply, feeling a wave of warmth. "I'll talk to you later."

As I hang up, I quickly slip into my dress— and that lingerie, adjusting it with a few last-minute tweaks. I give myself one final look in the mirror, smiling at the reflection that echoes the love and excitement I feel inside.

As I finish adjusting my dress, I hear the front door open. My heart skips a beat. I quickly make my way to the entrance, a flutter of anticipation in my chest.

C/N walks through the door, his face lighting up when he sees me. He's covered in dirt and dust from work, his work boots leaving small traces of grime on the floor. But the sight of him, with a bouquet of fresh flowers in his hand, makes me forget all about the mess.

"Surprise!" he says, a playful grin spreading across his face as he presents the bouquet, the flowers vibrant against his worn-out clothes.

I laugh, moving toward him with arms outstretched. "Oh, C/N, you didn't have to!"

"Of course I did. What kind of husband do you think I am?" He laughs, pulling me into a warm embrace. "I couldn't resist getting these for you. Happy anniversary."

I take the bouquet, the sweet fragrance mingling with the earthy scent of his workday. "Thank you. They're beautiful." I look up at him, my heart full. "Go get cleaned up so we can eat dinner."
