A few months later, we find ourselves driving to the doctor's office for a much-anticipated ultrasound appointment. The car ride is filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness.

C/N glances over at me, his hand gently squeezing mine. "Are you sure you don't want to find out the gender today?" he asks, his eyes twinkling with hope.

I smile at him, knowing how eager he is. "We agreed to wait until the birth, remember?"

He pouts playfully, his eyes pleading. "I know, but the suspense is killing me. Please? Can't we just find out today?"

I laugh softly, his enthusiasm contagious. "Alright, alright. We'll find out today."

His face lights up with a huge grin. "Yes! Thank you!"

As we pull into the parking lot and find a spot, the anticipation builds. We walk hand in hand into the clinic, and I can feel my heart racing with every step. We check in at the front desk, and the receptionist directs us to the waiting room. We sit down, and I try to distract myself by flipping through a magazine, but it's impossible to focus.

C/N is fidgeting with excitement, bouncing his leg and glancing around the room.

After what feels like an eternity, a nurse calls us back to the examination room. We follow her down the hallway, my nerves increasing with every step. Once inside, she asks me to lie down on the exam table and prepares the ultrasound machine.

C/N stands next to me, holding my hand and smiling reassuringly. The nurse applies the cool gel to my belly and starts the ultrasound. The screen comes to life with fuzzy black-and-white images, and my heart swells with love as I see our baby moving.

"There's your baby," the nurse says with a warm smile, adjusting the wand to get a better view. "Are you ready to find out the gender?"

I glance at C/N, who is practically bouncing with excitement. "Yes, we're ready."

The nurse nods and focuses the image, pointing out various features. "Alright, let's see if we can get a clear view. Ah, here we go."

C/N grips my hand tightly as we both hold our breath. The nurse smiles and looks at us. "Congratulations, you're having a baby girl!"

Tears spring to my eyes as I look at the screen, overwhelmed with emotion. My shoulders shake as I fight back sobs. C/N's eyes are wide with joy, and he leans down to kiss me. "We're having a little girl!"

I laugh through my tears, feeling a mixture of amazement and happiness. "I can't believe it. Oh my gosh."

We both stare at the screen, watching our little girl move, and I can feel the love and excitement building even more. This moment makes everything feel even more real. We're going to have a daughter. The nurse wipes the gel off my belly and hands us a couple of printed images of our baby girl. We thank her and make our way out of the examination room, still in a daze from the incredible news.

C/N can't stop grinning as we walk back to the waiting room and out into the bright sunshine of the parking lot. He holds the ultrasound pictures like they're the most precious thing in the world, and to us, they are.

"I can't believe we're having a daughter," he says, his voice filled with wonder. "A little girl."

I smile, feeling a mix of joy and anticipation. "I know."

We reach the car and slide in, still floating on a cloud of happiness. C/N starts the engine but then turns to me, his eyes shining. "Thank you for agreeing to find out today. This is the best news ever."

I lean over and kiss him. "I'm glad we did. Seeing your reaction made it all worth it."

As we drive home, we can't stop talking about our daughter. We discuss potential names, nursery themes, and all the dreams we have for her. When we arrive home, we sit on the couch, still holding the ultrasound pictures.

C/N shifts closer to me on the couch, his eyes twinkling with mischief as he kneels down in front of me. Before I can ask what he's up to, he gently places his hands on my belly, leaning in with a silly grin.

"So, little one," he begins, his voice exaggeratedly serious, "I hear you're going to be a handful just like your mama. Is that true?"

I laugh, rolling my eyes. "Really?"

He doesn't break character, pressing his ear closer to my stomach as if waiting for a response. "What's that? You want all the chocolate in the world and hate pickles? Good taste, kid."

I chuckle, watching him with a mix of amusement and affection. "Oh, now she's got opinions, huh?"

"Oh yeah," he says, looking up at me with mock seriousness. "She's telling me she's gonna be a daddy's girl and that I should start preparing now."

I raise an eyebrow, grinning. "Is that so? Well, I guess you'll be the one up for the late-night feedings then."

C/N taps his chin thoughtfully, still keeping one hand on my belly. "Hmm, I'll have to negotiate that one with her. Right now, she's more interested in learning about how to outwit her mom."

I laugh, shaking my head. "Outwit me? Good luck with that."

He leans back in, giving my belly another playful tap. "Hear that, kid? Mama thinks she's smarter than us. We'll just have to prove her wrong."

I can't help but smile at his silliness. It's moments like these that make everything feel so much more real—and so much more special. "You're ridiculous, you know that?"

He finally looks up, flashing me a grin. "Ridiculously excited, maybe. I can't wait to meet her."

I reach down, brushing a hand through his hair. "Me neither."

He leans in, pressing a gentle kiss to my belly. "We've got big plans, little one. Just you wait."
