EVERYONE WAS ON EDGE FOR THE FIRST RACE OF THE NEW SEASON. Max was starting on pole, so Ella prayed everything went smoothly. This was her first time in the paddock since officially becoming Max's girlfriend. The support was overwhelming, of course there was some hate - but that was a given. And she tried to ignore it.

"Mum, where's Dad?" Millie asked, not letting go of Ella's hand after the girls had returned from the bathroom. Ella glossed over the redbull garage, but Max was nowhere to be seen. "I'm sure he hasn't gone far, sweetheart."

"Ella! Nice to see you." Nico smiled, giving her a hug. "And how is little Millie?" He patted her head, making Millie giggle and give him another hug. "Have you seen my Dad?" Millie asked shortly, Nico apologised and insisted he hadn't. Millie looked visibly worried.

Ella quickly lifted the little girl up into her arms, and promised her that her father would be back soon. "I'll leave you girls to it, if you need anything - you know where to find me." Nico said his goodbyes and continued on with his job.

"My girls," a voice spoke suddenly behind them, Ella turned and was relieved to see her boyfriend. Max kissed her cheek, and his daughter's forehead. "How long until the race starts?" Ella asked, Max lifted Millie out of his girlfriend's arms and gave her a hug. "Two hours ish. I need to go in about an hour."

"Are you nervous?" She asked, her arms crossed over her chest. "I'm not. Seems as if you are." Max smirked, Ella shook her head. "Sorry I'm... I don't know. New season, I don't know what to expect. I haven't been doing this for so long you know. And now I'm even more worried you're going to crash. If you get hurt... I don't even know what I'd do."

"Don't talk like that. Everything will be fine. Isn't that right Millie?" Max looked at his daughter, Millie nodded enthusiastically with a huge grin plastered on her face. "Yes! Daddy is a superhero."

"Definitely." Ella agreed, Max laughed and kissed his daughter once more before putting her back down on the floor. "Dad are you going to win?" She looked up at him, tugging on his arm. Max nodded. "Just for you princess."

Eventually it was time for Max to go to the grid. He gave Millie a hug and a kiss on the cheek. He kissed Ella romantically, it was short and sweet, but all the reassurance Ella needed to calm her nerves. What was she worried for? Max knew what he was doing.

"Good luck. I love you." She said softly, so quietly that only the two of them could hear each other. "I love you too."

She hugged him tightly, and blew him a kiss. Millie waved enthusiastically as Max left. Ella lifted Millie up onto the table where she normally sat, and put her ear defenders on for her. Ella reached for her pair of headphones and stood next to Millie, her eyes glued to the screen that bore no information yet. And now it was time to wait.

This was the bit Ella didn't like. The waiting. Millie played on her iPad as Ella tried to distract herself from the feeling in her gut. Before she fell in love with Max, she still wasn't too fond of this bit. But now that she couldn't picture herself living without Max? This bit was unbearable. It made her head spin, her stomach curl and her face drop.

"You okay, Mum?" Millie asked, Ella nodded and kissed her on the forehead. Millie smiled and asked Ella if she would like to watch her video with her. Ella insisted she would be thrilled to; it was a good distraction.

"And it's lights out and away we go!" Crofty commentated, Ella's eyes were practically glued to Max's car. He made it around the corner smoothly, and Ella found herself sighing with relief. She prayed the race was smooth sailing, and nothing went wrong.

Max was still leading ten laps later, and soon enough it was time for him to pit. Ella looked longingly at his car as the tyres were changed, from the back of the garage it was hard to even see his helmet, but just knowing he was there was enough.

The pit stops all went smoothly, everything went smoothly. "Max Verstappen wins the Bahrain Grand Prix!" Ella cheered from the garage, as Millie shouted in delight.

Ella was thrilled, this was exactly the start to the season Max had wanted. And Ella could tell; Max was going to become a four time World Champion this year. Ella and Millie followed Horner to the front of Parc Fermé, where they would see Max be interviewed and recieve his trophy.

Max pulled his car into the Parc Fermé as Millie sat comfortably in her mother's arms. "Here comes Dad!" Ella smiled, Millie clapped as Max got out his car. "Dad!" She cheered, Ella laughed.

Ella had seen him win quite a few times, and so was expecting him to get his helmet off and get weighed first before he made his way over. But instead, Max hurried over to embrace his girls in celebration. Ella kissed his helmet, and hugged him tightly. Where's the trophy? He just comes running over to me.

Where's the trophy? He just comes running over to me
