Jane had started noticing a change in her husband's demeanor lately and she was getting worried that he wouldn't open up whenever she asked him about it. She knew it had something to do with the company and Brown had never bothered her with the company's problems but this time was different. He hardly talked at the dining table, he scarcely paid attention to what anyone said as he was always lost in thoughts, he spent most of his time in his study, locking himself in whenever he was at home and he became unnecessarily aggressive. He flared up at the slightest provocation. She knew she had to find out the problem as it was getting unbearable.

"Dad? Daddy? Dad are you listening to me?" Josie asked, one evening as they were having dinner. Jane had been chatting with the children as she tried to ease the tense atmosphere that Brown created at the table. He had barely touched his food and he was staring into space, oblivious of the fact that his daughter was calling him. Jane tapped his hand gently and he jerked slightly, pouring his juice in the process.

"Dad are you okay?" Jemima asked as the others looked at him, their faces etched with worry.

"Oh Mima I'm fine. Is everything okay?" He asked.

"Josie was telling you about her school's PTA meeting..." Jemima said.

"Yeah. My school's monthly PTA meeting is coming up this Friday and I want you to be there." She said.

"Your Mother would go in my place. Honey you know I have work..." he said, smiling apologetically.

"No dad. Mum's not going to be around. "Josie whined.

"Yes darling. I have a meeting with the land owner of my boutique. " Jane said.

"I'll call your Uncle then." He said.

"Which one dad?" Jemima asked.

"I'll call my younger brother to come. I'm sure he'll be available. Uncle Godswill."He said, sipping his water as the maid cleaned the juice that had spilled.

"But dad..." Josie whined.

"Josie..." He warned.

"But they're all looking forward to seeing you. You have to be there- " Josie pushed further,  ignoring her dad's warning stare as Brown hit the table with his fists and everyone looked at him, alarmed. He had never done that before even though he hated it whenever Josie whined. He stood up and stormed out of the dining room and went to his study, slamming the door. Jeremiah that had been quiet all along was the first to speak as Josie left the dining, crying as she ran to her room.

"Josie wait... "Jeremiah said as Jemima followed her, calling her name.

"Mom, what's going on?" He asked, pushing his plate aside. Jane took a deep breath before answering him.

"Everything's going to be fine- "she said as Jeremiah shook his head, his indignation rising.

"No Mom. Don't say everything's fine when it clearly isn't. What's going on with dad?" He asked as Jane broke down into tears. She couldn't hold in anymore. Jeremiah was not the one to get angry easily but he had one weakness- seeing his mother cry. He felt anger course through his veins as he tried to pacify her.

"Mum it's okay...please stop crying. "He begged as she nodded.

"I'll be fine, Jerry. Thanks." She said, sniffing. "I'll go check on your sisters, okay? Finish your food and go to bed." She said, hugging him before she left. Jeremiah tried to take deep breaths to calm down.

"I think you need to inform your dad that the bullying is getting worse..." Amanda said as Steven sighed. I wasn't even paying attention to what they were discussing. I had zoned out since the beginning of their discussion.

"Look Ama, bullying happens in every school and you know how influential Ada's dad is. There's no way she could get expelled..."Steven explained.

"Still, something must be done to curb all her excesses. She's making this school a living hell for their victims and even the school authorities can't help them because of their darn wealth." She said. From her tone of voice, you'll know she's already pissed.

"It's okay Ama. No need to get yourself all worked up for something you can't help. I'll talk to my dad." He said as she sighed.
Steven's dad owned GCH and that was another reason why he was really respected and no one could bully him.

"Hey what's up with you, dude? You've been awfully quiet since you came to school." Steven asked.

"Yeah what's the matter Jerry?" Amanda asked.

"Jerry?" She asked, tapping my arm gently as I jolted out of my thoughts.

"Bye guys, talk to you later." I picked up my bag and walked to the parking lot where my driver was waiting as they called me.

"Jerry wait!" Amanda screamed as Steven held her back. He knew I needed space.

I need to see someone....
