"Mum!" Jemima and Josie screamed, rushing to Mum's bedside as they broke down into tears.

"Jeremy! What happened to Mum?" Jemima asked. She was the only one who called me that when she was nervous or worried.

"She'll be fine. You don't need to worry-" I said as she interrupted me, boiling with anger.

"Stop trying to push us all out of what is definitely our business! What happened to Mum?! She doesn't look okay at all so stop lying to us. Josie and I deserve to know-" she said as Josie folded her arms too, looking angry and sad at the same time.

"Yes Jer. Quit the games and tell us what we need to know. Stop hiding the truth-"

"I'm not hiding the truth okay? You just have to be patient with me. Mum's going through a lot now and she needs rest so let's go home. I'll explain everything after dinner." I said as Jemima and Josie reluctantly left the ward after much persuasion and went to the car outside where our driver was waiting for us.
Since Mum fainted after hearing Mel and I's conversation, we immediately rushed her to the hospital and I had no idea how Josie and Jemima knew but I suspected it was through their driver or the maids at home. They immediately barged into Mum's ward as they got into the hospital and started bombarding me with questions.

Mel had left few minutes ago, after we both saw the doctor. Fortunately, nothing serious had happened to Mum. It was just stress, coupled with the fact that Mum's BP rose higher than normal. Hopefully she was going to be discharged by the end of the week as the doctor said he needed to keep an eye on her. My mind was swirling with questions.....what did the doctor mean by stress? Whatever was Mum doing that caused her stress? I've always know my Mum to be a stay-at-home person as she didn't work at Dad's companyor any other place.

I've got a lot of questions for Mum...

"So you're the daughter of the Village heads?"

  "Yes Sir"

"What is your name? "Brown asked her.

"I'm Vera, Sir. Vera Ugochi." She replied respectfully as Brown nodded and sat thoughtfully for a while.

"Look, I'd like to help you, okay? I know what happened and I'm deeply sorry for your parent's deaths. I will be responsible for your education from now on-" Brown said as the girl's eyes shot open wildly.

"Really?! Oh thank you so much Sir. This means a lot. God bless you Sir." She said, half kneeling as Brown nodded and gestured for her to have her seat as he felt oddly uncomfortable after hearing the girl's prayer.

God bless you Sir...

"That's okay. You can go and pack your things. You'd be leaving with us in a few day's time to the city." He said as she began to thank him profusely again and left.

Brown had got to know a lot more about Mr Jedediah's dealings after the day he was badly beaten up by Mr Jedediah's guards. The death of the community heads/ village heads were carried out secretly by Mr Jedediah's goons and their deaths was framed on one of the maids that used to work for them and they got her arrested. Brown's conscience had been pricking him ever since so he decided to help their only daughter- Vera Ugochi since he felt so guilty about what had happened.
He decided to sponsor her education and allow her move in with his family back In the city. Although he knew how mad Mr Jedediah was against his decision; he decided to do it to make his conscience 'calm' and hopefully feel a little better about the whole situation.

He got a new phone earlier on and decided to call his son- Jeremiah and assure him that he was okay since he had been gone for close to a month and he hadn't contacted any of them since.
