Jeremiah's POV
"Really?!" Amanda asked, looking surprised as Steven scoffed.
"Well, you shouldn't be surprised by any foolish thing she does. I mean she's in Cynthia's clique after all." He said, shrugging as Amanda giggled.
"Anyways, how'd yours go?" I asked as he sighed.
"Surprisingly, she came quite prepared but got distracted before we could even get anything done and she tried flirting with me so I sent her out and told her that we should only be meeting at school." He said.
"Wow. Looks like I'm the only one here with a reasonable partner then. Mine went well thank God." She said, beaming as Steven and I nodded.
"What's up Jeremy?" Steven asked, completely out of the blues as I cocked a brow.
"I'm good, Steven. "I said, my voice laced with sarcasm as he rolled his eyes and Amanda stepped in.
"I'm sure what he means is that you've been a bit quiet these days-"
"But aren't I the quiet one in this trio?" I asked.
"Okay I give up! It's up to you Steve." She said, raising both hands and walking away, leaving her food on the table.
"Why are you dodging the question bro?" He asked, looking at me warily.
"What question?" I asked, looking confused.
Okay, okay I know I'm pretending not to know but the answer he wants to hear is too specific for the regular question he asked me.
"The obvious question! "He said.
"What obvious question? "I asked. Steven turned to look at me, a bit annoyed as he narrowed his eyes, giving me a look that told me to stop being goofy.
"Okay fine! You win." I said as he sneered then faced his food.
"Then what's the matter with you?" He asked.
"Uhm, did you see where Amanda went? She's not in the cafeteria. "I said, scratching my head and looking around as he groaned.
"I don't know-"
"Don't you think you should get her? I doubt if she's eaten anything yet." I said as he stood up lazily.
"Promise me you'd tell me what happened once i return with her." He said, adjusting his collar as I shrugged and he glared at me.
"Okay fine. I will." I said as he smirked before leaving.
°°°°°°"Phew! Took you long enough! "She said, dusting imaginary dust off her skirt before sitting opposite us.
"So you mean you were waiting for Steven to call you back?" I asked, amused as Steven shook his head.
"Uh-huh of course yes!" She said as I burst into laughter.
"So-" Steven started as the bell rang, indicating that the break was over as Amanda slammed her fists on the table in frustration, earning us stares from some cliques.
"Okay guys, let's get to class. You know how cranky Mr Robert's gets when his students are late." I said, standing up.
"But I was just about eating." Amanda whined.
"And you were just about to tell me what happened-" Steven said.
"Was I? " I asked.
"Was he?" Amanda asked, her eyes wide open.
"Well, he promised-" he said, facing her.
"I didn't. "I said as we left the cafeteria.
"You did."
"How? When?" I asked as Steven sighed heavily.
"Yeah you did...but not with your mouth." He said, smiling strangely.
"Really how?" I asked, already hearing Amanda's frustrated sigh.
"You don't have to say it with your mouth to mean it." He said, still smiling mischievously.
"Say what?"
"Huh?"
"I promise?"
"Ha! Got ya!" Steven said, smiling triumphantly as I looked at him, confused until reality hit me.
I just Promised!! Ugh! That sly boy!
"What's going on here?" Amanda asked, arms akimbo. The look on her face was priceless as she was totally oblivious to what we were doing. Steven and I burst into laughter and entered the class, leaving her behind.
