"What's the next thing on my schedule for today? " Mr Brown asked Tom, his Personal Assistant.

"Sir you have a meeting with Mr Jedediah scheduled at 3 o'clock this afternoon. "He said. Mr Brown looked thoughtful for a while before he replied.

"Okay, tell my driver to get the car ready. I'll be down in five minutes." He said as Tom bowed slightly and left. Brown seriously didn't want to merge his company but he had no choice, even after sacking a few workers to reduce the salary payment, it didn't seem to work so he decided to accept the offer before Mr Jedidiah changed his mind.

"Hey Brian what's up?" Brown asked, turning slightly in his swivel chair. He called his friend to ask if he could accompany him to the meeting but he couldn't make it and Brown had to go alone.

"Good afternoon Mr Jedediah." Brown greeted as he walked into the office.

"Afternoon Brown, have a seat. So, are you here to accept my offer?" He asked as Brown sat quietly.

"Yes, I have. Thanks again for the offer." He said as Mr Jedediah beamed.

"Oh nonsense! It's no bother. So just sign these papers and the contract is sealed." He said, rather excitedly while giving Brown some papers and a pen.

"So I'll schedule our first meeting so that we can discuss our first extraction project together, now that our companies are merged. "He said as Brown scanned the papers and signed where necessary.

"Okay then, I will be taking my leave now. Thanks sir, once again." Brown said, shaking Mr Jedediah's hand as he nodded in response and watched him go out with an indecipherable expression on his face.

"Dad, where are you going?" Josie asked as Brown smiled wearily. He had decided to take things slow and not allow the company issues tear his family apart. After his discussion Jeremiah, a few days back, he became warm and tried to be more free with his children and Jane had forgiven him and they were both happy now.

"Josie dear, I'll be going for a business trip on Sunday." He said, ruffling her hair fondly.

"But what about church?" Jemima asked, her arms folded, looking serious.

   "What about it?" Brown asked.

"Dad, it's been ages since you last accompanied us to church. It's weird. "She stated as Brown sighed.

"This is very important, honey. This trip would really help save the company. I promise to make it up to you, okay?" He asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't make it up to me Dad, make it up to God." She replied.

   "How?"

"Go on a personal retreat. "She said simply as Brown smiled.

"Y'know, that's exactly the same thing your brother told me to do." He said as Jeremiah chuckled.

"Well, the Spirit is one." She said, smiling.

   "Okay. I'll consider. "

"There's no room for consideration dad, you've already promised." Josie said, pouting.

"Ah an my baby's all grown up! "He said, giving Josie a bear hug as she struggled to break free.

"Don't change the subject dad." Jemima said, rolling her eyes.

"Hmm do I smell jealousy? " he asked as Jemima face-palmed herself.

"It's definitely jealousy-" Josie said as Jeremiah cut in.

"Not helping Jo." He said as she shrugged and sat beside her father as Jemima sighed.

"Okay children. I'll go." He said as Jemima high-fived her brother and Josie smiled.
