I'm grinning from ear to ear as I recite to Autumn and Sammy everything that happened last night, they're both sat cross legged in-front of me fully engrossed in my story.

Sammy clutches his chest dramatically, "I've waited for nearly a decade for this ship to sail and it's finally happening!"

Autumn scrunches her nose at me, "I'm so happy for you Scar! You deserve this, you deserve a man who is going to treat you the way you've always dreamed of being treated."

"And for the first time, in my life I'm finally starting to believe it."

"So, when's the date?"

I laugh lowly, "That's the question. We had a baby a few weeks ago and neither of us feel comfortable enough to leave her yet."

Sammy strokes his imaginary beard, "What if we transformed your apartment into a date evening?"

"I'm listening Samuel, I'm listening."

"Well, what kind of ideas do you have?"

I falter, "I have no ideas. I just want everything to be perfect, he's such a wonderful human and I just want it to be magical."

Sammy wrinkles his nose, "I'm going to pretend like that's not totally gross. What kind of things does he like?"

"At the moment, he's completely true-crime obsessed."

Autumn claps her hands together, "That's it! You can get these at home unsolved murder kits, you two could solve it together and order some food."

"I love it!"

"You can thank me at your wedding."

My cheeks burn, "We've not even had a first date."

Sammy shakes his head, "I think we've both got a pretty good feeling about you two crazy kids."

...

I look around the apartment anxiously, I had Luke drag Rocky to the boxing gym for a few hours under false pretences despite his intense reluctance. It was lit completely with fairy-lights, his favourite take-out was sitting on the coffee table with a candle next to it. On the sofa laid the unsolved murder kit. Violet was sleeping soundly in her Moses basket, despite my huffing whilst putting up the lights.

My heart halts when I hear jingling and the door swings open, Rocky freezes when he finally emerges into the living room.

"Woah. What is all this?"

I give him a nervous smile, "I'm taking you out on a date except we've just had a baby, so I'm taking you in for a date?"

His lips twitch as he takes of his jacket, "You've planned a date for me? Are you just trying to secretly get into my pants?"

"I'm waiting to recover from the last time, I got into your pants for that one."

He claps his hands together, "So, what have we got planned?"

"Well, I know you've been really interested in true-crime recently, so I got us an at home-solve it kit thingy."

His expression softens, "I was going to be gentlemen and wait until the end of the date to kiss you but I think we both know by now that I'm not a gentlemen."

Butterflies make their usual appearance back in my stomach, as he charges towards me and places his lips against mine. I quickly wrap my arms around his neck, melting into his kiss entirely.

We share nervous glances before we sit down in-front of the coffee table.

"No way, you even got my favourite food!" He says in a low hushed voice, excitement lacing his tone.

"I know! I just really wanted too treat you, so I made sure to do everything that you like."

"Hey, no. This a first date, we've got to pretend that you don't know anything about me."

I'm grinning like a complete goof once again, "Oh sorry. Robert, was it?"

He gives me a look, "I prefer Rocky actually. And I keep forgetting your name, Susan?"

"Close, it's actually Scarlett."

"Ah my mistake. So, Scarlett tell me about yourself, do you have any hobbies?."

I swallow my laughter, "I do actually, I love to paint."

"No way."

"What?"

"I'm not sure if you know this about me but I have a major thing for artsy girls."

My grin intensifies to the point that it's physically hurting, "I did not know that, how perfect. What about you, you got any hobbies?"

"I like to box, love it actually."

"No way."

"What?"

"Well, I'm not sure if you know this about me but I have a major thing for boxers."

He cocks his brow at me, "Oh yeah."

"Yeah. I turn into a complete dork around them."

Rocky's face sobers, "Oh. I actually don't like dorks at all, so I think it's best if you just leave."

I roll my eyes with a laugh, "I'll have you find that I'm the one who invited you over here."

"Oh shoot yeah. I guess, I'll just stay for the free food."

"That's it? Just the free food?"

"I suppose the baby is pretty cute as well"

"Thanks, she's half mine."

His eyes widen massively, "What? You never mentioned on your dating profile that you had kids, you should probably put that on there."

"Oh? Do you not have kids?"

"I do actually, she's only three weeks old. She actually looks suspiciously similar to your baby."

"Oh really?

"Yeah, its kind of freaky actually."

...

I sigh with complete delight as Rocky wraps his arm around me, I nestle myself into his shoulder whilst I cradle Violet in my arms.

This was it.

This was the feeling I've been longing for my entire life. Everything around me felt so completely magical.

"Thank you for such a wonderful evening." I whisper as I look up at him.

He presses a kiss to my forehead, "Why are you thanking me? You're the one who set everything up."

"Because I'm just so thankful to be able to have these kind of moments with you."

His eyes crinkle before his lips touch my forehead once more, my grin is blinding as I turn my attention back to the television. I gasp dramatically when I realise what he's put on.

"You found my French show!"

He nods slowly, "I found your French show."

"As if this day couldn't get any better but yet it does! Somebody pinch me."

"I can't, I'm scared you'll drop the baby."

"I didn't mean it literally."
