"Oh baby, baby" I sing as I gently rock Violet in her bouncer, "Oh baby, baby...push it real good."
A loud snort behind me makes me nearly jump out of my skin, I whip my head to see Rocky looking down at us both with a bemused expression.
"Are you singing hip-hop to our newborn daughter?"
I look up with a sheepish grin, "Potentially."
He looks even more bemused as he sits down, "Don't let me interrupt you, please continue."
"Oh...um....now, now, now wait a minute y'all, this dance ain't for everyone...only the sexy people."
My heart literally feels on cloud nine when I Rocky slowly begins to join in with my awful attempt at rapping.
"So all you fly mothers, get out there and dance. Dance, I said..."
I'm beaming like a complete idiot when he grabs the hairbrush I left on the coffee table and begins to rap into it. I've never felt happiness on this scale before.
I clap as butterflies erupt wildly in my stomach, "You go, girl!"
His laughter causes him to stop, "I think sleep deprivation has finally hit me."
"Well, I'm a big fan. In-fact, I say leave the military and get a career as a rapper."
This is officially one of my new favourite memories, I'm mentally taking photographs of everything.
He puffs out his chest, "I did lay down some serious bars didn't I?"
I giggle loudly, "Yes, you did. What about me? How did I do?"
"You were mediocre at best."
I roll my eyes before throwing one of the cushions led beside me at him, "Jerk."
He catches it swiftly, "Woah, what a catch."
"I think I'm beginning to rub off on you, you're turning into a total dork."
"I know it's sickening, isn't it?"
I shrug, "I don't know, I happen to like dorky Rocky James, very ever much."
He freezes for a moment.
"Uh, I didn't mean...like, like." I splutter out my cheeks now burning to an insane degree, "You know what I mean, I say stuff like this all the time!"
"Yeah...you do."
"You know...you still haven't told me that thing from the hospital? It's been nearly two weeks."
His face pales briefly as he harshly bites out, "It doesn't matter now."
My brows furrow together, "You said it was important."
He shrugs as he stands up, "Well, now it isn't."
I quickly stand on my feet and grab his arm, "Tell me, what is it?"
"Just drop it, Scarlett."
"Have I done something wrong? You're acting different."
"No, you never do anything wrong, that's the problem."
I falter, "I'm confused."
"Yeah think about how I feel! You're just always smiling and being like the kindest person I know, you're like the human version of the sun for crying out loud!"
"I'm feeling lost." I utter out weakly.
"I'm pretty sure that was about as obvious as I can get."
"What? I'm really sorry but my head feels like it's spinning right now."
"And your eyes!"
"My eyes?"
"You've got like stupidly pretty eyes, they're all green and bright."
My breath hitches as my stomach erupts with thousands of butterflies.
"Don't even get me started on your happy humming!"
"My happy humming?"
"At-first I couldn't fucking stand it but now I actually feel like shit, if I don't hear it. I actively now want hear your stupid humming."
Hot tears burn the corner of my eyes, "Anything else?"
"You make such bad jokes! Like they're terrible but now I find them funny, you've broken me Scarlett."
"Do you have more?"
"Your dancing! You dance like a total dork and it takes all of my fucking will-power not to smile like an idiot at it."
"You done yet?"
He lets out a sharp breath as his shoulders sag, "Yeah. I think so."
"Good." I murmur before I grab the sides of his face and press my lips against his, his arms quickly wrap around my waist.
We kiss for a few minutes before we pull apart breathless, he leans his forehead against mine.
"You have a crush on me."
Rocky freezes, "I wouldn't say a crush. I mean, I spend a stupid amount of time thinking about you, whenever you do certain things this funny feeling happens in my stomach, it like flutters or something."
My heart soars, "Like butterflies?"
"Exactly, like butterflies!"
"Rocky."
"Yeah?"
"I've had a crush on you since we were six, I'm glad you've finally caught up."
He nods before kissing me again, "I'm glad, I caught up too."
I can't help but squeal when we pull apart, "I can't believe it, I'm not completely delusional!"
"I wouldn't go that far."
"I never thought this moment would happen."
He slowly moves his hands up and down my sides, "Me either. But it's happening."
"Can I take you out on a date?" I blurt out.
He laughs softly, "Shouldn't I be the one asking you this question?"
I shake my head, "I've waited nearly thirteen years for this, I don't want to waste another second."
"Then yes, you can take me out on a date. But just a warning, I expect something really fancy."
"Oh yeah?"
"I'm talking a candle lit dinner and you need to pull out my chair of me."
I wish I could describe the way my heart was feeling right now but I can't, all I know is that it's going utterly berserk.
"Of course, I may even turn up with flowers. I hear Violets are your favourite."
"Oh they are. I'm warning you though, I don't put out on a first date. I'm actually saving myself for marriage."
I snort loudly as I feel such a deep amount of adoration towards this man, "So is that baby behind us, not yours?"
"Nope. Found her on eBay, bid a whole three dollars for her."
I sigh happily as I lean further into his touch, "You are officially my level of dork and I love it."
"It's killing me inside."
"And that's why I love it even more."
"I can't tell if that's sweet or sick."
I shrug, "Probably a little bit of both, who knows?"
