Rocky left a few days ago and my flight back home was tomorrow even though I knew in my heart it was the right choice to leave. I couldn't but feel saddened by the bare apartment around me, thinking about the memories I could have made.
My eyebrows knit together when I hear a loud knock on the door, I slowly lift myself up from the sofa and go towards my front door. I swing it open and when I see the person on the other side, I can't help but gape dramatically.
"Hey wifey!" Sammy greets with a charming grin.
A small sob leaves my lips as I fling my arms around him, "Oh my god."
"I figured you might want some help moving home, so I dropped everything and book a flight."
My heart squeezes dramatically, "I don't deserve you, I can't believe that you're actually here. But I'm also slightly pissed at you for changing your travel plans just for me."
He rolls his eyes as he steps inside, "Oh my sweet, sweet Scarlett. I was going to go home anyway, I am not made for travelling. I've seen way too many insects in the past few weeks, plus I'm pretty sure that I have some sort of genetic condition that makes me prone to food poisoning."
"Y-You're coming home?"
"I am, I just thought I'd make a detour in Paris first."
I fling my arms around him once more, "You've just made a pregnant woman stupidly happy."
"Holy shit. I completely forgot, you're pregnant. And you are pregnant by a man who looks like he's been carved by angels."
"He is pretty beautiful." I comment softly as I finally allow Sammy to be released from my grip.
"I know we don't have long but it feels like a waste not to see some of the sites, which has been your favourite?"
I shrug sheepishly, "I'm still yet to see a lot of them."
He claps his hands together, "Then put some shoes on your tiny little feet and let's get going."
I didn't know how much I needed to see such a familiar face until this very moment. All of the voices in my head have always paused whenever Sammy's been around.
...
I lean happily against Sammy's shoulder as we eat ice-cream with our view being the Eiffel tower.
"I thought I'd be more impressed." He comments, "I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this."
I roll my eyes warmly, "Luckily, you look extremely impressed in the photos."
"I know, I've missed your photography skills, no one else quite gets my angles like you."
"I don't think anyone gets me like you."
His brows furrow, "You okay?"
I let out a shaky breath, "I am now I've seen you but I feel like I'm drowning slightly."
He wraps his arms around my shoulders, "Lucky for you, I make an excellent float."
"I'm just so scared I'm going to fuck up this whole mom thing. What if this is a terrible idea?"
"There is no way that you are going to fuck up, you might make the odd mistake which is normal for a first time parent but Scarlett you've been looking after everyone your whole life. You're made to be a mom."
My heart softens, "Really?"
"One million percent."
"And you don't think I'm so sort of idiot for leaving art school?"
