A week has passed and I still didn't tell Lando about what Jordan told me.
He said he wanted the truth, but was he really ready for it? Maybe it didn't matter anyways, Francesca was gone and he seemed better.
He invited Max and I to England, Silverstone. My second F1 race, but this time, I didn't have to sneak in.
I was actually invited.
"Did you find anything out?" Max asked as he was walking next to me through the paddock. "Not really" I mumbled.
"I think I'm gonna leave Monaco though" I changed subjects, for my own sake because I don't know for how long I could lie to them.
"Why?" He frowned. "You can't leave"
"Monaco was never my home, Max" I looked at him. "I think I'm going to Italy or Spain or whatever"
I wanted to do that with the money I got from Lando, but that wasn't on the cards anymore.
I saved money over the years though, not much but enough.
"Or you can stay in Monaco"
"Do you even realize how expensive Monaco is?" I snapped my head to him. "Why do you want me to stay so badly?"
"You might not realize it, but you changed a few things, made people happy again" he looked at me, stopped in front of the Mclaren garage. "Lando is smiling again, didn't mention Francesca in over a month and maybe you don't realize how huge that is, but I do"
He looked down. "And I will miss you too" he said a bit more soft.
In a couple of months these guys actually started to mean a lot to me.
We hung out a lot, watched a bunch of movies together, went out to lunch, dinner, boat trips.
Without even mentioning Francesca.
"You saved him Xanthi" Max shook me out of my thoughts. "You can't leave him too, don't be like her"
"My two favorite people" Lando said as he walked up to us. "Let me show you around the garage"
"Okay" I nodded as I walked after him.
"So this is my car" he pointed at the car proudly. He was so excited to show me around the garage and introduced me to his mechanics. "And these are my mechanics"
"Hi mechanics" I waved at them, didn't know what to do if I was honest. They laughed as they waved back.
"I can show you around the paddock after I am done with the practice sessions?" Lando asked as he was fiddling with his racing suit. "If you want that of course?"
"Yes sure of course I want that!" I said with a smile. "I will buy you ice cream"
"Xanthi is gonna buy me ice cream?" He chuckled. "I feel very special right now"
"You only get one scoop now because you made that sarcastic remark" I pushed him away. "Good luck though, be careful"
"Thanks, I will see you after" He grabbed his helmet and nodded his head. "I am looking forward to that ice cream"
I smiled as I put my thumbs up which made him laugh again.
He walked to his car, looked behind him, right in my eyes before getting in his car.
"I haven't seen Lando look at a girl like that since-" a girl said as she stood next to me in the garage.
"Francesca?" I completed her sentence.
"You know her?" She frowned.
"I heard about her" I turned to her. "I'm Xanthi"
She tilted her head and smiled a little, as if she already knew who I was.
"Kelcey, I'm Lando's PR manager" she looked in his direction. "And I am sorry for mentioning his ex, I was her friend so yeah"
"That's okay, I understand" I shrugged. Why would I be mad for her mentioning Francesca? "What was she like?"
She sighed, looked up. "I always liked her, but many people didn't like her. Max, Zak, Jon, the mechanics, they all don't like her"
"Jon?" I asked.
"Lando's trainer, he's amazing" she smiled. "But totally off limits" she quickly added with a wink.
"Oh I got it" I laughed.
"They always thought she was hiding something, that she wasn't completely honest"
And I guess they were right about that.
"But Lando seemed to absolutely love her" she shrugged. "It's been eight months though, I don't think she will ever come back"
She paused a little and shrugged again. "Maybe it's better if she doesn't come back"
She clearly was annoyed that Francesca left without telling her anything, which I understood.
And I swear, if she ever decides to come back, I was gonna tell Lando everything I just discovered.
She wasn't gonna hurt him again.
