A shopping cart rolled smoothly across the buffed floor of the Whole Foods grocery store. This morning, Lucious decided to get his shopping list finished for the next two weeks.

His food selections consisted of various vegetables, fruits, lean meats, and healthy snacking. As much as he liked eating healthy, every now and then he'd cheat a bit.

He picked up a box of almonds off of the shelf, examining their flavor and contemplating if they were better than the sea-salted ones. "Nowadays people are paying ten dollars for a bag of almonds but three dollars for McDonald's." He sighed. While he made his selection, was interrupted by a single loud noise. It sounded as if a box of some sort of rice or pasta had been dropping by someone in the aisle across from him.

He could then hear voices on the other side of it. "Violet, are you serious? Look what you did. You spilled it all over the floor. They're going to make us pay for this." Said a familiar voice. Lucious froze, wondering if he was hearing things correctly.

A timid and low voice responded back to the man. "I-I'm sorry. I told you that it was too much for me to carry...- Are you saying it's my fault?" The man asked her. Lucious could recognize Violets voice, and knew that the other man must've been Elijah.

Violet responded quickly. "N-no...I'm not...it's not your fault." Violet replied. There was silence for a few seconds, and Elijah spoke again after sighing. "Go get a shopping cart." He said in a frustrated tone. "Okay..." Violet said, then walking away. Lucious knew that she was likely coming by one of the aisles, so he turned the other way so that she wouldn't glance in his direction.

He then could still hear Elijah talking as he bent down to clean up whatever was dropped onto the floor. "So goddamn clumsy. It's like she just wants to embarrass me in public." He said. Lucious furrowed his eyebrows slightly. As much as he found distaste in what he was hearing, he surely couldn't do anything about it. He had to force himself to continue with his day, but he realized that perhaps Elijah played a role in why Violet seemed so fidgety to begin with.

By the time he made it to one of the registers for checkout, he could see at the end that Violet and Elijah were surely shopping there. They were standing in a checkout line far at the end of the row. Elijah stood tall and alert-like the way that a military man typically would, while Violet seemed to be standing next to him with an exhausted look on her face.

Often times she did her makeup before work, but this was the first time that although she wore it, Lucious could see right through it. She seemed tired. She seemed to throw her hair into a careless style as if she had been rushing to leave the house, yet Elijah seemed well put together. And still, she wore clothing that covered her entire body.
