The past week had been one of the most awkward experiences that Lucious had ever had. Each day he was at work, he had extreme trouble with acting as if nothing happened. Of course, one should separate personal matters from work matters, but it's nearly impossible to do when the exact woman who kissed you last week is speaking to you multiple times through the day.

Violet did the usual routine that included bringing him his coffee and giving him his morning briefing. It didn't seem like she noticed his strange behavior. Sometimes he wanted to treat her just the same out of the amount of care he developed for her, but other times he wanted to treat her in a way that clearly showed her that what she did wasn't forgotten.

She continued about her day as if nothing happened, and he didn't notice any souvenirs on her body from Elijah. Not so far.

He came to pick her up like usual, and Lucious stopped leaving out at the same time as she did and instead watched their encounter from his office window. When they'd be in the elevator together they made small talk and he sometimes stepped away from her. When he'd be leaving a room and she'd be coming in, he would only greet her and keep moving.

He wasn't trying to be mean, but his feelings for her still lingered. Those shameful emotions he was embarrassed for feeling. He had fallen for a woman in a fully committed relationship and didn't realize it until it was too late. He didn't see it until it was time for her to say goodbye. And yet she still chose Elijah.

What did that kiss mean, exactly? If she was so adamant about continuing her relationship with Elijah, why would she take the initiative to kiss Lucious and even allow him to kiss her back? Was that supposed to represent something? A thank you? A goodbye?

Nonetheless, he couldn't take the awkwardness or the feelings any longer. And this is why he was going to-

"Hi, Violet do you mind if I talk to you for a second?" He asked after she opened her office door, peering up at him with those same eyes he often adored.

"Sure..." She mumbled quietly, looking down at the floor and easing away from the door. Lucious walked inside, shutting it behind him. He crossing his arms, staring down at her short stature.

"How has the week been for you?" He asked plainly, then she sat down in her office chair. She gave a single nod. "Good..." She said. "Good." He replied. "So, I think that you do a really great job taking care of my needs and everyday tasks. But, to make things more convenient for you, the CFO and I have decided to switch assistants." He said.

Violet tilted her head, her expression stiff with surprise and trying to process the information she just heard. "Y-you're firing me...?" She asked. "Firing you? No, Violet. I'd never fire you. I just think that it's better for you to work in a different department. It's on a lower floor, easier to get to..." He explained.

The woman stared at him for a few moments before sulking. It was clear that she didn't like these results. "Are you doing this because you're frustrated with me, Sir?" She asked. Lucious shook his head. "I have nothing to be frustrated with you about. Your choices are your choices. I don't have a say." He spoke reluctantly.

She chose not to acknowledge that sentence he said, and instead messed with something on her desk. "But I'm comfortable here...I like it here..." She said. "I know, but just because it's comfortable doesn't mean it's the best." Lucious said. She bounced back to the previous topic. "You say you don't have a say, Sir. But if you did...what would you say?" She asked.
