The Night Of Elijah's Return

[]

Violet walked inside of Lucious home after he held the door for her. She looked down at her hands that securely gripped her handbag. He closed the door behind him quietly, and she inhaled slightly once feeling him standing closely behind her. "I can take your coat." He said quietly, then lifting it up and sliding it down her shoulders. "Thank you..." She said quietly. He hung it up on the coat rack next to his own.  It had been becoming a little colder out since October was approaching soon. Now, it was time for chilly breezes, pumpkin spice, and crunchy leaves. Violet enjoyed the fall spirit, but not so much the weather.

"It's still a little early. Do you want some champagne?" Lucious asked, brushing by her and looking over his shoulder. She nodded slightly. He tilted his head for her to follow behind him.

Lucious didn't address the nightmare situation after it occurred. He didn't want to bring up anything that could cause her to go from smiling to stressed.

She stood at the kitchen island, watching him as he poured two glasses for them. "Everytime I come to your house...it feels like the first time..." She said. He tilted his head up to take a glance at her before looking back down at his pouring. "I've never been to a place like that before..." She added quietly, referring to a location they have just returned from.

"A greenhouse?" He asked. She nodded. "That was nice..." She said, adding the last part quietly while she looked down at her dress. A small smile formed on the side of her lips. He started to inch around the corner towards her, handing her one of the glasses. He continued to stand beside her.

"Thank you..." She said, taking it from him. "You're welcome." He replied. "I'd say that going to a greenhouse isn't amongst the most uncommon types of activities." He said. Her eyes glimmered faintly. "Hm..." She said, grinning to herself as she looked down and bit the tip of the glass.

"I...am surprised that you've spent time with me for this long..." She mumbled. "You are? Why do you feel that way?" He added. "I mean, I'm your secretary, not...a random pretty woman you picked..." She said. "You don't consider yourself to be pretty, Violet?" He asked. "No...pretty women live completely different lives..." She said, chuckling as if it should have been obvious.

"What are some things that you think are pretty, besides people?" He asked. "Uh, well...I like nature. I think that trees are pretty. And...certain types of art..." She said, then shrugging.

"And both things are in the eye of the beholder. Including yourself." Lucious said. "You are the one holding that beauty." He said. She let out a chuff, then taking her a gulp from the champagne. He stared at her for a few moments before taking a sip from his own drink.

"Even if you don't think so." He said. "Thank you..." She mumbled, then taking a moment to pull her arm sleeve down to the bottom of her wrist again. He pretended like he didn't see it. "Do you have a favorite place that we have gone to together?" He asked. She nodded. "I...liked the immersive art place..." She said, putting her hair behind her ear.

"I liked it because it was like being in a movie theater and an art gallery...I've never seen that before..." She said. "There are a lot of things you say you haven't seen." He said. She shrugged. "My life has never been exciting up until now." She said. She finished the champagne first. "But...your life seems fun." She said.
