"Yes, I agree. And I know, the numbers have increased but that does not mean that we as a company should start getting comfortable. I plan to hold another board meeting this week to reiterate this." Lucious spoke into the phone, pacing around his office with one hand on his hip.

His lips were wrinkled into an expression of concentration. "Yes, I'll follow up with you. Great, thanks." He said, then ending the call. He walked up to one of the many large windows overlooking the city.

"Nearly a 10% increase in profitability, but I worry that my employees will think that this is a one time thing that will simply blow over." He said.

"Let me send out a quick email reminder." He said, then heading to his desk. [play audio] He began typing away for a few moments, and while being lost in this he didn't even notice that an employee entered his office.

She wore a white button up shirt that was tucked into some black work pants. She seemed to be very dashing and chic in the outfit. It complimented her black bob.

She spoke with a voice pitched at a level fit for a teenage girl. She held up one finger, not meaning to interrupt but gain the attention she may have asked for more than once. "Um—Sir?" She asked.

He tilted his eyes up to her quickly. He had never seen this particular woman before, and he was so used to Violet coming in to the point where he wondered about her after seeing this employee.

"Yes? I didn't notice you, I was busy typing. How can I help you?" He asked. She walked up to his desk, seeming to be nervous. Her hands were clasped together in front of her, and she scrunched up her lips in a smile of hesitation.

"Hi, I'm Jen Grant from the 3rd floor. You...might not know me as I know we have a lot of employees here and it's probably impossible for you to keep up with all of us working here. I just wanted to say that I think that you're doing a really great job as the CEO- Thank you, I'm glad to hear that." Lucious said.

"You're welcome. And so, I just decided to stop by because I had a quick and tiny question about wages, if you don't mind." She said, her wide and desperate smile seeming distracting in an uncomfortable way. Lucious gave a single nod, his eyes narrowing in confusion. "Wages. Alright, even though something like this might be best handled over email, I suppose I could talk about it while you're here. What questions do you have about wages?" He asked.

"Well—I was wondering if I could request a small raise- A raise?" Lucious asked. The woman curled her lips, clearly intimidated by him.

He leaned forward in his desk, crossing his fingers over one another. "Well, Ms...Grant..." He started, reminding himself of her name. "It's fair if you think that a higher wage could help you with whatever personal living expenses you have, but if it is at the point where your preexisting annual raise is not enough, then the process of granting the request is a lot more technical than simply walking into my office and asking for it." He said.

Jen gulped, her face stiffening and that wide smile finally dropping. "With all due respect Ms. Grant, I have never seen you before. And more so, I have never seen your work ethic. For all I know, you could be part of the half who does everything right or the half who does what they feel like doing." Lucious said.
