One Month Free

[]

It has officially been one month since Elijah was deployed. Lucious didn't realize until Violet herself mentioned it. But despite this, the two of them didn't have him cross their minds much during their time spent together. During the past thirty days, they had developed far more comfortable with one another, considering what they have to be an official friendship. Though they kept this discreet in the workplace, their bond had developed so well that they even began taking out time to remotely plan days together outside of work.

Lucious hadn't took the risk of complimenting her the way he did before, as he was a little too hesitant to make it seem as if he had other intentions with her. Despite their bond growing in a natural way, he still struggled to refrain himself from acting on his intuition. Sometimes her smile was almost too much for him to bear, especially after she started to become comfortable showing it to him more often.

Her laugh had become louder and her witty replies started to make him laugh more. She seemed more fluid after her bruises had finally faded and she was no longer feeling any soreness. And, she was enjoying taking good care of her plant, whom she chose to name "Leafy" after Lucious wouldn't stop suggesting it.

As long as things remained this way with these same boundaries that would never change, things would be fine in Lucious' mind.

Tonight, the two of them attended a movie together. On the way back to her home while walking under the night sky, they tossed small pebbles into rain puddles to see who could make the biggest splash.

"How do you keep finding these big ones?" Lucious asked. "Maybe I just have good eyes..." Violet replied. She was wearing his jacket on her shoulders, and she pulled it around her tighter as a faint breeze nipped at the two of them.

"My vision is good, Violet." Lucious said. She held up her fingers towards him. "Hmm...can you see my fingers?" She asked. "Yes, all four of them." He replied to her three. She giggled. "Four?" She asked. He started to chuckle.

Before they knew it, they had arrived at her building. "This is the hardest part of the night, isn't it?" He said. She tilted her head. "But, we see each other at work each day, Sir..." She said. "I know...I know, but work is the strict part of our lives. It feels nice to see you relaxed and enjoying activities." Lucious said.

She reached into her purse to look for her house keys before entering the lobby. She shuffled and searched around for a little while, then halting in confusion. "Is everything okay?" He asked. "I was sure that I placed my keys in...-" She gasped at her own realization that she had left her house keys upstairs. More specifically on the kitchen island. She remembered that she had been rushing that morning to catch the subway.

She sighed, scrunching her face in embarrassment. "Did you forget your keys inside?" Lucious asked. "I can be such an idiot, sometimes..." She said, shaking her head and placing her face into her palms.

Lucious took a step closer to her. "Hey, don't talk about yourself that way. You're not the first person who has done this. I've left my keys multiple times." He said.

Her face resembled a pout as if she had began so embarrassed, she was willing to cry. "It's just so embarrassing...you don't have to stay...- I can't leave you out here alone. You don't have any friends to call or no family until you get in contact with a locksmith tomorrow..." Lucious trailed off, thinking.
