Monday Morning
[]
Lucious greeted the employees in the lobby as he brushed by them this morning. Most of them waved, but many murmured behind his back.
He headed towards his office, and sat at his front desk to organize forms for the day. He called Violet on the intercom to give him his morning briefing. However, he didn't get a response from her. He called again, but received no answer. "Hm. Is she here today?" He asked.
He decided to head to her office himself to check. The door was open, but she wasn't inside. He knocked on the door, calling her name. He then saw her open her office bathroom door. She gasped at his presence, taking a few steps back. "Mr. Lyon...! Did you call me? I'm so sorry for not replying- It's fine, are you alright?" He asked.
She was covered from head to toe as usual, but she had a small bag in her hands. "Yes...I was just fixing my makeup." She said. "I see." He said, watching as she sat down and tossed the bag into a drawer. She took a deep breath, then sniffing. Her eyes seemed red and her face appeared puffy.
Lucious didn't want to seem so blunt, but he couldn't prevent himself from asking...
"Have you been crying?"
She paused, then shaking her head no. "No...I got makeup in my eyes, Sir." Said Violet. He felt ashamed of how obvious that lie was. He walked up to her desk slowly, then easing down into the seat. "You know that as your boss I should be here to support you, right?" He asked. She nodded. "And that you can talk to me about anything that might be making it difficult for you to function at work, right?" He asked. Violet nodded.
"Now I'm going to ask you some questions and please be honest with me if you can, deal?" He asked. Violet gave a small nod. He was asking these questions in a gentle tone as to not make her think that he was upset with her.
"Now, how are you feeling today. Right now, as you're sitting in front of me?" Lucious asked. She stared down into her lap the entire time he spoke to her. She needed a few moments to answer. "Really...um...nauseous..." She mumbled. "Nauseous? Do you think that you're coming down with something?" He asked. She shook her head.
"Violet, can you please look at me for a moment?" He asked. She did so, and her red eyes didn't show him mascara or eyeliner. It showed him a form of stress and a flow of heavy tears. Something she surely would have needed to fix her makeup afterwards for.
"Did you get a good nights rest?" He asked. "No..." She said. "Have you eaten anything today?" He asked. "No..." She answered. "Have you had any water?" He asked lastly. "No..." She said. He gave a single nod, though his expression didn't seem pleased. "Thank you for being honest." He said.
He stood up, then adjusting his tie. "Order something from online to eat, and have it delivered here. I'll put on the company card." Lucious said. Violet seemed surprised by this. She started to shake her head. "N-no sir. I can't. It's fine, I'll just wait until my lunch break." She said.
"Violet, your lunch break isn't until 12:45, and it's 8:15. You look sickly as if you're going to pass out. You need to eat something and I don't feel right seeing you like this and still expecting you to work. I'm sorry, but if you don't eat something, I'm going to have to send you home for the day- Please, don't...!" She whined. Lucious' face turned to suspicion.
