Waking up beside Chishiya, in this world, was an entirely different experience. The sun was gently peeking through the curtains, casting a warm glow on the room despite the dark tone of the space. Chishiya looked peaceful beside you, his soft breaths creating a sense of tranquillity in the room.
You couldn't help but admire him for a while as you replayed the previous night's memories, there was no regret or guilt in the way you thought there could have been despite how fast you'd moved. It was a perfect memory, a moment you'd keep forever locked in a special place in your heart.
Your phone buzzed on the bedside table where it had been plugged in by Chishiya. You had a few emails but nothing urgent, the only text you have is from Kuina informing you to come over around 12 so that you can spend the day together.
Reaching a hand up you gently brushed his hair away from his face, you were just about to move your hand away when his eye peeled open.
"Good Morning." He whispered groggily, his hand wrapped around yours bringing it to rest on your chest. "How do you feel?"
"I'm good." You smile. "You?"
"Tired." He covers your eyes with his spare hand causing you to giggle. "Shhh. Sleep more."
"I thought you liked waking up early." You laughed, pulling his hand away. "We are supposed to go over to Kuinas early."
"That was in the borderlands, it was always best to wake up early.." He argues. "But here my bed is comfortable and I'm not worried about dying so sleep."
"Well, I am getting up, besides your breath smells." You tease.
"No, it does not." He argues, clearly offended by the statement.
"Whatever you say...." You extract yourself from his chest, the floor warm against your feet as you pad toward the bathroom. "I'm going first."
"Shh." He hissed, turning over.
You giggle at the way he acts, happily surprised by his expression of discontent for the early morning wake-up. You focus on getting yourself ready for the day, you'd need to stop by your apartment to change before heading to Kuinas but you were sure Chishiya wouldn't mind, presuming he got up of course.
Though for now, you worked with what you had. Make quick use of the toothbrush and small bag of toiletries you had. Brushing your hair and carefully applying some concealer underneath your eyes made all the difference and when you stepped out of the bathroom again you felt refreshed.
"You took forever." Chishiya is standing against the wall, clearly waiting for his turn in the bathroom. "You never used to take this long."
"Well, I never had anything to get ready for." You shrugged, clutching your travel pouch to your chest.
"Death?" He raises his eyebrows seriously before laughing at his joke. "Too soon?"
You whack him gently on the arm. "Way too soon, try again in about 20 years."
"Who says I'll even be around you then?" He pushed past you, closing the bathroom door behind him leaving you to your thoughts as you dragged your feet back to his bedroom where you dropped onto his bed.
You know it's a joke, rationally it's a joke but honestly...honestly your heart rate soared at the thought of him leaving again. You tried so hard in the ten minutes he was in the bathroom to calm yourself down but despite it all, you couldn't. Which is why when he finally emerged, carefully dressed and groomed only to find you sitting on his bed silently crying tears that had left trail marks in the little concealer you chose to wear, he was rightfully worried.
