Leppy practically dragged Jade out of the main building, over to one of the separate buildings, and into the attached changing room. She was grinning and bouncing a bit, very clearly excited about this looking at Jade happily, "Are you excited Jade????" She asked grinning.
Jade... was anything but excited. But she didn't want Leppy to worry so she smiled gently and nodded, "Yep, sure am." She said watching Leppy quietly, following her into the changing room. Her locker was right next to Leppy's here as well.
Leppy hummed happily, grinning as she put her backpack inside before taking down the school swimsuit she had, "They take the student's height into consideration when choosing uniforms like swimsuits and such. We used to be able to choose our own swimsuits apparently, but they got tired of girls trying to show up in bikinis." She explained.
Jade listened, following suit carefully, looking at the swimsuit nervously. The upper portion of her back would be exposed, along with her shoulders. She glanced at Leppy nervous but nodded in understanding, "We have to wear a swimsuit?"
Leppy blinked, before nodding, "Yep, no way around it." She explained watching Jade concerned. She blinked, looking at the swimsuit, turning it over before squeaking, "Shoot! Oh crap, I'm sorry! I didn't even think about that!" She said looking back to Jade.
Jade watched uncertainly, before sighing and looking back at it. "It's... it's okay. No one should notice, right?" She asked watching Leppy.
Leppy watched and smiled, nodding quietly, before leading Jade to the changing rooms quietly, "It'll be okay Jade, I promise."
It took about 5 minutes for Jade to convince herself to leave the changing room she was in. About 5 of the scars on her back were showing, at least partially, paired with the one on her shoulder. After a bit, she finally slipped out, going over to where Leppy was waiting, limping, and putting her clothes in her locker.
The swimsuits were purple, with a white outline around the seams and on the straps. They covered the chest well but went down to about her shoulder blades in the back.
After another hesitation, she gripped Leppy's hand tightly, noticing she had taken her glasses off as she led them out and to where the pool was. It was indoors, with the entire thing being about 20 feet deep all around. Jade pressed close to Leppy, nervous, trying to hide as she scanned carefully over all the other kids there. She only recognized one other person there. Lute, who was by herself, lost in thought.
Jade shudders lightly, squeezing Leppy's hand nervously. Leppy noticed and said softly, "It'll be okay, it will be fun!" She said, trying to reassure her.
Jade looks at her, biting her lip but nods quietly. "Alright, if you're sure." She said softly.
About 30 seconds later, the teacher was there and had the kids separated, about 5 feet apart around the edge of the pool. Leppy was placed across the pool from Jade, which only made her heart hammer faster in freight. The teacher explained that she wanted the students to swim around and get a feel of the water first, before she moved on to other things, leaving again for 5 minutes.
Most of the kids got in right away, the majority either jumping in or slipping in. Jade saw Leppy get in right away, getting a hang of it right away. Jade sat at the edge of the pool, uncertain feeling how cold the water was, making her shiver. She glanced up, before forcing herself to slip in.
Being fully submerged in the water elicited an unexpected gasp from Jade, causing the air in her lungs to leave in a second. She had sunk in much deeper than she had expected to. She tried to kick and swim her hands up to the surface, though it was hard for her to get any movement at all. She didn't know how to swim, or what to do. If the pool had had a shallow end, or at least a 6 feet deep end, she'd have been okay.
