Jade stayed quiet most of the time until Evermore and Joseph were dropped off at home, having been talking to Leppy about something that happened during Study Hall.
Once Leppy had driven away she grinned and leaned over looking at Jade, "You called Mom and Dad Mom and Dad to Clara~" she teased, smiling at her, "I didn't think you'd do that so soon!"
Jade looks to Leppy surprised before smiling softly, "I... It still feels really, really weird to call them that, but, it also feels weird to call them Molly and Jacob... I want to be comfortable calling them Mom and Dad... they're really really nice."
Leppy watched her gently as she drove, "Are you not comfortable with it because of your birth parents and everything that happened with them?"
Jade paused, thinking before nodding, "Kinda, but... Jacob is really really nice and just, something about him makes me feel safe like I know he won't hurt me... I don't know about Molly, because I haven't spent a lot of time with her, and I just... my birth mom loves me, and she's always been there for me even though I didn't know that until recently... it just feels weird because in a way it feels like I'm betraying my birth mom but at the same time, I know Molly is there for me too so I just... I don't know..."
Leppy listened quietly, looking at Jade as she reached the stop light, "You just have to get to know Molly better, she's really sweet when you get to know her!" she paused, thinking, before saying, "Why don't you think about it like this? Your birth mom, you say she's still around as a ghost right? Well, Molly's your mom too. Both of them love you, and I am pretty sure if your birth mom had an issue with you calling another woman mom, she'd tell you, but I don't think she'd consider you to be betraying her. If she loves you which she does, she'll be happy you feel safe enough to call another woman who cares for you mom too. Think of Molly like, a Bonus Mom, you have your birth mom who loves you dearly and then you have Molly who also loves you. It's something I heard in a TV show once."
Jade listens, pausing as she watches Leppy before smiling softly, "I... never thought about it like that..." she thinks before giggling, "So I have a dad and two moms?" she asked tilting her head.
Leppy watched her and giggled nodding excitedly, "Yep! I'm the same way, Lillian just says she doesn't want me calling her mom so I don't. But yeah, exactly!"
Jade listens and smiles softly, watching Leppy, watching her, "I'm not fully comfortable with calling them mom and dad yet, but... thinking about it that way makes it a bit easier."
Leppy watched her and smiled before saying, "It took me about a month to even comprehend the fact that they were supposed to be my parents fully. I just thought they were nice scientists for a while that were nice to me... it took me about 6 months until I steadily called them mom and dad." she said shrugging as she looked back to the road, starting to drive again.
Jade listens, watching her thinking before saying, "Could I ask something? Not related to mom and dad..."
Leppy looks over and smiles nodding, "Obviously! What's up?"
Jade watched her, fiddling with her backpack uncertainly, "Can I get expelled for having too many days worth of detention."
Leppy froze, stopping at a stop sign. She slowly turned her head staring at Jade before saying, "What. Happened."
Jade watched her before looking away, "My power activated in detention, the other girl in detention helped me stop it but a teacher walked in and saw it was active and gave me another week because of it... I argued back to her about it because I can't control my power and she gave me another week on top of that for back-talking a teacher."
